The release date is still not in the near future, so they canceled the server because they don't want to pay for something that is not in use and mostly idling.

I mean DAOC was a balanced game between the classes and the realms, at least it was supposed to be and at times was. But you have to look at Genesis and say which class can I play within these broken game mechanics that will do ok? Tired of it. If Uthgard upgrades and has the good mechanics they did when they closed I hope they also give some notice and do some marketing to allow people to come in vast numbers.
