While I do appreciate all the hard work the devs are putting into making this server come back to life again,
there is one thing that some people don't seem to understand here. This server is all about the players and community who made this server popular, well known and attractive. If it wasn't for all these loyal fans posting here every day asking for the news and for Uthgard to come back up, then no one would really care about 3 guys in the basement writing the server source code. The point that I've been trying to make that this dev team needs an active PR person who can provide the community with regular updates, news and bits about development to keep the fire glowing and people interested in this project. I don't really give a crap if it takes a week or a another year to bring it back up, but can we have some updates please so we don't have to beg for 2-3 month and so that we have something to look forward to? I am sure there is plenty of people in this community who would be glad to help the development and do this kind of thing in their spare time on volunteer basis. Sarge - Healer

I used to work customer service, both in retail stores and in call centers. I was getting PAID to listen to people ****** about the product(s) the company I was working for was putting out. Customers always think they are in the right even when they aren't. Too many of the people on these forums act like they are customers.... YOU'RE NOT. You don't pay them a salary or by the hour to ****** about their product ON THEIR FORUM. Now I don't know the devs personally and can't say if they care that the server was/is popular or if they care what a bunch of whinny people want. I know that if it was me, and I was spending my own time for FREE and getting nothing in return that most of the people on these forums would disgust me.... how ungrateful are you... seriously and you don't really appreciate all the hard work they have ALREADY put in if you can say "well I appreciate it but..." There is no but, either you appreciate what they did/are doing or you don't. I appreciate what they did and that they are still working on the server, we aren't able to play it but that doesn't mean they aren't STILL putting in their own time FOR FREE so that some whinny, annoying loser can ****** about them on the forums.... yeah I wouldn't do ****** for you people. |

Kildich, please, stop doing us all a favor trying to enlighten us how ungrateful we are, and how much we should appreciate what we are getting (or not getting rather). In a world of fan created mods, freeshards, add-ons etc it is not always about the money. You keep saying that we are not the paying customers and we are not entitled to anything. I agree that we are not entitled to anything here, however it is not about the money either. These kind of projects are created mostly to show off a skill, dedication and ability of an individual or a group to create something interesting and unique that would attract the attention and appreciation of the community. All I simply suggested that this project has been losing steam for the last 10+ month due to the lack of communication, lack of regular updates to fans and lack of progress information. I also suggested the easy way to fix it. They could even enlist you to write the updates for us since you seem to have too much free time on your hands anyways. I wouldn't want to see this whole community slowly melt away because everyone got tired waiting for an update. Sarge - Healer

People that truly care about playing will return or keep checking the status that takes like at most 5 minutes a week. Those that have short attention spans will leave and not return. I for one would rather has less people that are decent, good people that have respect and gratitude for what they are getting than a bunch of greedy, selfish people who really just care about themselves. Honestly its people like that, that made me leave WoW, far too many instant gratification people, too many "I want it now" people. Makes me almost puke to think about how much power people like that have and I for one will fight that kind of mentality as long as I can. |

I ´ve been many years in the european volunteer guild on the official daoc servers. The guild worked close toegether with the gamemasters there and was responsible to build a bridge between players and gamemasters. We were their eyes and ears, gave the players first aid with small problems, organized events supported by gamemasters, made tests and so on. So I wrote Blue a pm a few months ago and asked him if any help in form of a community manager would be appreciated. I would be interested to help them but he denied. They want to keep their team as small as possible and don ´t appreciate the idea of a community manager. So there is nothing we can do at the moment for them instead of being patient, I suppose. @ Kildich You promised to calm down twice and stop offending ppl, it ´s xmas chill out man. If the staff would feel any harassment, they had told us already or deleted posts, in fact they don ´t really care what is written here, as long as we don ´t offend each other. I don ´t see any rude behaviour here, the only person that is whining,complaining and rude is you. Like Hyshahs already mentioned before, it ´s good that ppl still care about the server and doing posts here to keep that server community alive. It ´s just normal that the players give signs they are still waiting for the relaunch and news and you should be glad about it, because there ´s no fun playing at a dead server later. Of course we are customers, some ppl donated money and spending lifetime is a payment too, it doesn ´t have to be money always. You ´re right about the point that the staff doesn ´t owe us something but this server is a synthesis, the server needs the staff and the players to be successful, that ´s just the way it is and it ´s ok. .... And a happy New Year! Remember the beginning of the year? Thidranki was removed which was the last straw for a lot of people in a chain of events that degraded the population of the server from ~800 (some claim 1000, but that was well before that as far as I can recall) to ~250, out of which I seemed to be the only one in RvR :p. Man it felt empty. Hopefully 2015 will bring the rebound that we all desire. And Kildich, check yourself for crying out loud. One can only ponder why, oh why, you decided to take this task upon you.. I for one would rather play with 1000 douchebags (like before) than 200 mutual back-scratching, circlejerking fairies from wonderland on a virtually empty server. You cant be friends with everyone- just make a few good ones and have a decent alliance then DAoC shines as it always did. Crossrealming is the thing that affects the interrelationships the most here in my opinion (if you compare it to the romantic old-school live DAoC gameplay), and we will have to relate to that as it is a freeshard with a limited population. Hmmm well I did vote for Obama so thank you I think. Clearly you do read my posts and I am flattered that you do. Also if you used to b***** so much then why are you complaining that I do it now assuming I agree with you. To you Relvinian I say do not have a merry christmas and go f*** yourself. Actually I only voted for him the first time, when he betrayed just about everything Liberals stand for then I voted for Jill Stein after that and will probably again. Merry Christmas to you as well Mauriac. |

maybe they either lost interest in this project or need a break of 1-2 years before restarting the server
