So the casual pug grps will have 1 min fight, wait an average of 7 min (with the custom shortened porting ceremony from Uthgard 1.0, livelike they would wait an AVERAGE of 15 min and up to 30) on porter pad, another 1-3 min 'till everyone is buffed and ready, 1-2 min walk, again 1 min fight and so on...
...

If the maximum time between each cycle of ports is 15 minutes, how does this add up to "up to 30" minutes waiting for the porter?

I think the livelike classic daoc porter ceremony was every 30 mins, the every 15 min was a (good!) custom feature on Uthgard 1.0... or am I wrong? Every 30 miniutes sounds too cruel to be true, but on the other hand real livelike classic daoc was a very cruel game.

On live server port time was 15 mins and not 30. And 15 min port was for controll rvr population. Imagine more than 1000 players with old hardware at the same point = server crash. Instant rvr port works pretty nice, and its needed with low population.

I'm not sure about instant port but a nice compromise would be to have it be about 10 minutes and speed it up during low population hours.

this idea of rotating bonus zones i always liked.
in my opinion this would be absolutely awesome for not only the pve zones.
a rotating rp/bp/xp bonus in rvr zones could bring action to every known zone in the rvr areas.

also i would love to see huge custom xp spots in rvr zones like it was on agramon, but sadly i already know that this will never happen :)

p.s. forget uthalis, just implement your uthalis merchant as bp merchant with high prices for, for example, reskins.

Players can greatly contribute to a server if you let them.

Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs.

It seems to me that port timers are a good place to start. As Holsten said, instant and long port timers should be avoided for obvious reasons (no penalty & frustration/boredom, respectively). I feel that 4-5mins on the pad could be a good starting point, as it keeps the ritual of waiting for the npcs alive (probably the most iconic DAoC scene of all) but reduces time wasted doing nothing, brooding on the last, in all likelihood lost, fight - a terrible funkiller for (semi-)casuals.

IMO and its just an idea. Why not implement something similar to live where amount of enemy keeps influence port timers with the maximum amount of time being a set number (say 15 minutes as holsten suggested would be a good time). This way the keep taskers will play more of a role in RvR. This will also make it so the 8 mans are bit more supportive over the keep taskers since they influence the wait time.

<Shrug> As I said just an Idea.

15 min timer could be ok with big rvr population. With 20 players population in rvr 15 mins will sucks.
