Hello everyone,

We're still alive and very busy with Uthgard. Unfortunately we can't announce new big features currently, because we are still working on core stuff and bug fixing.

We are making significant progress in core stuff (source code), fixing bugs and prepare missing stuff. We hope we're able to announce more updates and news soon. We apologize that we didn't publish news for a while, however to be honest real life was rough for a while. Many of us had big real life projects or are in a transition state which has slowed down development significantly. We are (as always one might be inclined to say) hard at work though, trying to make Uthgard ready to launch again.

Unfortunately a lot of this work is also work you won't be able to notice much from a player point of view as this work mainly is rewriting huge chunks of the source code to make it:

  1. Easier to read and edit (results in faster bug fixing in the future)
  2. More efficient in execution (less bugs, and better performance)

This also means that there really is not much we can show you of progress as it is all in the number of code lines and in server performance numbers.

We will try to announce smaller updates in a regularly timeframe, however due to the state of Uthgard as a hobby project we are unable to commit to regular updates on any steady timetable. We hope you can understand this, and keep coming back whenever we do have news. Once again, thank you for your patience!

Also please visit our Gallery for more recent screenshots!

Sincerely,

Your Uthgard Staff

good news.
Hope GMs are fine with what they have stated, that they are fine with just 80 people (300ppl was Trishin Statement long time ago) playing the game under their vision.
Its important to leave this server running doesn't matter how low the numbers will be. The other servers can fail but Uthgard still will be there, thats Uthgards only chance.

Edit 19/09/21: Well Uthgards chance has come.

Ever consider opening up the code as a full on open source project and have the uthgard staff push out architecture designs and handle merge reviews and requests? I can't be the only developer here with some spare cycles.

lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

Have you guys considered releasing the server early without SI and then patching in SI when it's finished? I mean that was our original experience with the game anyway. It'd give us time to start leveling characters/crafters and we'd all still be on an even playing field at the start with no custom items in the community.

Tnx for news. You should release yet, and let players report bugs, and help you.

That is the only right way to go. The server has been down for almost a year and who knows how long it will take to get the SI working properly. Release the core server with fixed bugs and work on SI later as the spare time becomes available. Most of the time this server was a ghost town when trying to find a leveling or PvP group in non-prime hours, so SI will thin out the low populated realms even more with people scattered all over the place. As far as I am concerned Uthgard doesn't even need SI, but that's just my opinion.
