Work in progress (we're still alive!)
|
This, my friend totally depends on your definition of "working on it". You can "work on something" for 8hrs a day or for 10 minutes a month. |
|
As long as they are doing something to work on the server I for one will be patient. I also do not support the idea of a half done project. Let them get all aspects of it done and give them the time to do it. I don't want to have to redo this in another year or so because so stuff didn't get done. Are we 5 yrs old? Can we not be patient? Do we not have other things going on in our lives? I sure seems to me like a lot of those on the forum are children that need to learn patients or adults who are rude and demanding.

And how much time per month have you devoted to fixing the server issues? I believe 10 minutes a month is more than most people here dedicate to Uthgard revival. These people have jobs/families/lives outside of Uthgard, so let them do as much as they can when they have the time. They have NO obligation to work on this. Everyone here is a DAoC fan, Mods included, and that ultimately is the only driving force, not a forum full of unruly, impatient players. |

If the project is not yet finished when christmas will have come, why don't you open the server for few days to let us play with the old code and with the old characters?
![]() Might create an event or use one of the past ones or simply set the server as PVP, as it was in the last 2 days of its life (when i was far from home... ![]() On Uthgard 1.0:
Totenpfeil <Ranger> - Vlath <Hunter> - Toten <Eldritch> - Totentanz <Skald> On Uthgard 2.0: Totenzweig <Druid> - Totentanz <Skald> |

For the love of God why don't you people just STOP ASKING and let them FINISH THE WORK. I am sure its not even possible what you want anyways I would guess all the toons have been wiped. For the love of God, when you are nervous, please have a walk and learn how to breath deepely. It might improve the quality of your life, relaxing and teaching you not to generalize ![]() |

If they hade asked assistance from the community I would have devoted as much time in it as I would have done playing the game. Which I guess is a lot. With the exception of some initiative from the community itself, as far as I know there hasn't bin any call for help. Given the time it has taken now, I can't see why anyone could seriously use that same argument over and over for 11 month's. They have atleast ONE obligation. That is to inform the community (on a regulair bases). That fact that this has rarely happend over the last couple of month's, should say enough. You say, it's their free will. Fine. But they've ran a server for 10 years orso. Then killed it instantly with the promise of getting it up and running again. Therefor you should inform that community which has stuck with you for over those years. Satiah | Tuthmes | Dendera | Khufu | Nefertete | Dahshur | Nebetah | Neterbaiu

Even if they did you act like they owe you something? What about you/us owing them? Also who says they want your help or anyone else's help. ITS THEIR PROJECT, NOT YOURS. You assume its dead and whine and complain so fine your so sure its dead then if/when it does come back you shouldn't. |

But I do see some new pictures there, so rejoice! We can get our hopes up for another 3 month's... It's their project, but one that needs players to use it. They are part of it. I don't assume anything and I'm only complaining about the information. One could say Uthgard has bin dead for 11 month's now and even if they gave up on it, all would be fair. I'll also agree the whine and complaining is tidious though, but that goes for both sides. The "Long live Uthgard 2.0" post aswell as the blindly backing of the staff without any criticism is dire too. But then again without any information, all one can do is speculate. Its not dead. If it were, we'd say something. It's just not ready yet.

Call it news and make it a sticky post. It ´s not much but it contains enough information for me to stand by. Anyway, I agree 100% with Satiahs posts, it ´s true that Uth is the project of staff but so are the players who fill the content with live an important part of it, in conclusion a normal give and receive relation. It ´s not a big deal to offer some news from time to time to keep the few players who still read the forum excited. It ´s a win win situation more information, more interest, more interest = more players, more players more fun and so on. I appreciate the art of daoc, and the work of staff. You can build a perfect server to indulge in nostalgia, sure, but it ´s kinda worthless when it ´s empty. News are an important part of marketing with low effort and big rise and good for Uthgard. I really miss Uthgard and I would appreciate if players were able to see the progress to be kinda part of it. |

That was my first Ray of Hope in a long time. Thank you..
