Just looking at the development 'progress' with respect to critical features of the server goal since 2009 (i.e. minimal), I think most people will have accepted by now that Uthgard 2.0 is not very likely to happen. World build and all that voodoo was never going to be the limiting aspect of Uthgard's rebirth, but the re-write of core code like the RvR system.

And I don't really blame Blue - he has worked on Uthgard for many years (perhaps not so much in the past couple of years, as far as anyone can tell), but people move on to other things eventually. Could he have been more open to let other people help out and build up someone to take over the torch from him? Sure - but that hasn't happened. I think people are reasonably happy with how Genesis has turned out in the end, so there is always that...

I hope they will make their server code public (github or similar) where people can help development/bugfixes etc.

Especially if they decide to throw in the towel and give up they may as well.

Not looking for updates, just another reassurance that Uthgard is at least on the back-burner and not off the stove completely (like you did with this post on July 26).

The problem now is the code. The deeper they go the more crap they have to fix. At least that's the update I got!

Ie. The deeper they go, the longer it will take to "finish it." After 10 month's they've got bigger problems then the code. But I guess about now only 10 people actually care anymore.

I dont think most of us would care if they would release it with several bugs... it's not like we played on a bugless server for the last 10years..
