Archeage.. pay to win? lol. link

Archeage is garbage, just another mmo that has A lot of pve and pvp is a mindless grind for pve sh+t. Why can't they come up with a realm rank system like DAoC.

If you're looking for that old school feeling, head over to http://www.uorenaissance.com/. We need more old school pvp players to spice things up for the factions. Nothing better, IMO, to fill your time until Uth2.0 returns.

archeage is a ftp p2w mmo...
each year comes a new ftp mmo on the market, how long you want to wait? |

Try Everquest if you're looking for that solid old school MMO experience, it's roughly 2.5 years older than DAoC, but the gameplay and replay value are so damn good it's still going strong to this day. There's a 'classic era' based server called Project1999, much like Uthgard is for DAoC, which tries to capitalize on the classic experience as much as it can - to stay true to reflect the way the game used to be during 1999-2001. That's the progressive server I mentioned earlier in this thread, they already released the first expansion some years back, and are currently working on the second one now.
Personally I've played almost every major MMO w/PvP since EQ and DAoC, and there's just nothing out there that can match the PvE gameplay of Everquest or the PvP (RvR) gameplay of DAoC. Those are the only two games I've ever came back to more than once over the years, it's just too bad there hasn't been a worthy successor to either one yet. I'm just grateful to the people who took the time and effort to release the classic server versions of both these great games, so that people who never got to try them during their best times on live servers, would have a chance to see what they missed out on! You guys with no jobs need to quit bagging on P2W. In the old days we called it Subscription charges and yes Daoc/WoW/UO/EQ all had them. You actually paid to play a game every month. Because MMO's cost money to keep going.
Then they come out with a way for the broke ass people to play and they make it F2P (mooch server bandwidth) and P2W (paying the bandwidth and developer costs). Some games are really pay to win and some are merely exp boosters. Rift for example is a money pit. You have been so lucky that Uthgard has been up as long as it has. I also bet 80% of the people whining never even donated and just took advantage of it then ****** most of the time on top of it. I want to throw some reality in your faces. new movie in the theatre $11.00 - 3 hours Movie on payperview $6.99 - 3 hours Gallon of gas $3.65 - 25 miles 6 pack of Suds $5.99 - 2 hours Gaming P2W cost $15.00 - 720 hours So you tell me if subscriptions are excessive. Gaming has been by far the cheapest entertainment I have ever had and I have been playing since UO beta. /Rant off, you made me go grandpa on your asses. |

so true ![]() simple breakfast at work: $10.00 - 15 minutes 1 coffee at lunch break: $3.00 - 10 minutes going to dinner/bar after work: $50.00 - 1-2 hours Gaming P2W cost $15.00 - 720 hours ![]() + i'd love to see "monthly subscription" again as a standard. i hate these newschool "ingame buy" ******. make it $50 monthly subscription > ingame buy ******. Mein DAOC-Feeling: (Sound aufdrehen!

I know this is cliche but...classic DAOC = Priceless. And by priceless, I mean you literally cannot place a price on everything that is going on to preserve it. Because only people that care about DAOC give a ******, and they are certainly not being paid to restore this game to it's peak. Think of an old school car-refurbisher....yah, they might make a few bucks on the restoration, but when you have to rebuild from the ground up like Uth has....well then, that is just a labor of love. So ****** if you like that Uth is still down, but really, we all know it is just in a holding pattern. And when it relaunches...well then, we will have something good to finally celebrate in this miasma of a world.

The only P2W I play is World of Tanks. I spent the bare minimum amount I needed for what I wanted to do. $20. I have been playing it off and on since 2012.
Thankfully they made it so you can no longer ONLY get the highest dmg ammunition with real money. Anything you can buy with real money you can buy with in game currency. They did do something idiotic and nerf artillery so instead of being to fire arty every ~20 seconds now its ~1 minute. Sucks cuz I had just spend a long time grinding out a very powerful Soviet arty piece ![]()

You don't seem to understand what Pay-to-win means... A subscription is not P2W... it's pay-to-play. P2W is when a game is "free", but if you pay money then you get advantages over people that are playing free. These can vary drastically, with some games being a literal pay-to-win scenario - whoever pays the most has the best stats and just wins without any skill required. Other games give smaller advantages that can be overcome with skill, but if a skilled person paying money comes against a skilled person playing free, the payer wins. The only way you can call DAoC a P2W game is due to rampant buff-bots in live. That is a pretty good P2W example, but it can't be applied to all subscription games. |

Bingo. World of Tanks used to be like this but it is not anymore. If people paid money they got special shells for their tanks that made them hit a LOT harder. was totally unfair. It isnt like that anymore tho

All these F2P games have some advantage for those who pay, Archeage allows you to craft and do other pve things more if you pay. This leads to getting crafted gear faster(best gear in the game) and you can't have a house unless you pay as well.. I'll wait for Uthgard because even CU wont be anywhere near my expectations.

CU will deffo not be like daoc, it will "play" like WoW. Look at the char animations, the way they move on the 0 axis ( ground ), the way you turn, the way you interact with the surface and so on. No stick, no face commands and so forth. The way styles / spells are done is diffrent aswell. What is great about daoc is that it mixes a very nice combat/gameplay pace with a unique feel of the gameplay, the way you do you styles feels like SOMETHING is happening rather then the WoW way that everything feels like a long constant uninterrupted DOT (wether this be a spell going off or styles going off ). Not sure you catch my drift here since it is pritty tricky to explain but, yah thats my biggest gripe with all these new games. They all feel and play like WoW and its offspring. /edit Its like the diffrence between Quake2 and Unreal Tournament 2, same thing if you prefer the Quake 2 feel of an FPS then you won't like the Unreal feel. Or Counterstrike 1.6 vs Battlefield 1942 type of "feel" tot he gameplay, movement, feel etc. /edit2 Also the scale of CU is WoW not DAoC. Mythic did the same enviroment scale with WAR, instead of going with DAoC scale. Last edited by oLd-Sneakers on Sep 04, 2014 12:42, edited 1 time in total.

I have a feeling CU will be more like modern day Warhammer Online. While I LOVED warhammer online, it wasn't loved by general population since lets face it, any games that require skill for multiplayer don't last. But if its near Warhammer I'll still love it as much as DAoC. Just need to accept the fact that we will never get a game as close to DAoC again, this new generation of gamers are Carebears and need their hand held for everything. |
