A look behind the scenes

Well they have posted somewhere that they are not going to spend time on the forums, but use what little time they have on finishing the work on their server - so lack of updates shouldn't worry us too much.
Also we do know - that THIS staff will only release a good - maybe even close o perfect product: er go it will take time. I agree with Caemma on the content of the post. We can only hope that Blue and his crew have realized that they NEED to be more *playerfriendly* in their outward attitude and communication. Yes, many players are a P I T A, BUT if you want to run a server, you NEED to not make the players FEEL like: who the Fxxx cares - and we are just a nuissance anyways. It is important to at least listen to the players. And no, a staff can and should not do everything players say: that would lead to a zig-zag course that is worse than nothing: every second player probably has a different opinion about the game, his class and how OP'ed everyone else are:D. But a minimum of costumer servicemindedness is required. even if most are NOT paying for anything: players still are to regarded as costumers and treated as such. People play to have fun: so the time you spend on a game needs to be mainly fun. If it is not - 90% will go away and spend their time somewhere else. I played on Uth - not for 10 years but for 7 years. Had so many good times - untill the nerfing REALLY took speed. It made us feel: unwanted: farming became so hard that most of us thought: well - we have a job already: this game is worse than a job: its unfun work trying to make ends meet and farm money for templates and crafters. And as Caemma said: RvR became increasingly difficult - even so as the numbers were dwindling. All in all: I know many of us REALLY miss Uthgard - and hope that when it comes up again it will be with not only added content: but also a new and improved mindset: we are all here to have fun, lets make that possible together: Staff and Community! ![]() /Dru |

When Uthgard released there was a number of spots throughout each realm which would yeild masses of gold/drops, some were not fixed for years. I hope there isnt really a repeat of this in SI, as it really affects game economoy. I am wondering how the GMs will go around to ensure mobs are dropping accurately. I wouldnt mind seeing an Uthgard beta for a few weeks where they let people go mad around SI trying to fix any last hiccups regarding this.

I believe there has been a lot of testing that has gone on to gather drop rates, sell and salvage values, etc, on Live to determine correct SI loot. I also completely agree, any egregious drop rates, leveling/xp bugs, sell and salvage values at relaunch will totally undermine the future of the server. Lastly, I think that a) we should if possible, help GMs research these things if more legwork is needed, and b) WE, THE PLAYERS, should report such exploits/bugs/etc ASAP at the first sign there might be a problem at relaunch. Yes, its cool to get ahead based on some bug/nuance you find, but if it F's the server up in the future because you are uber rich or level faster, then we all pay. M2C's, Alpha PS - A Beta prior to relaunch would be sweet as well, just so we can go around and try to break everything. ![]() |

A beta is a nice idea, but it's my experience in launching new games that the majority of beta users are simply looking for just that, the perfect place to get the best xp and gold drops, and do their best to hide unfair locations from others and from Devs. It is fairly easy for the Dev team to track stats to include time played, level, and gold accrued over the course of the first live week, to determine if there are any problems, and they can always tweak drop rates at any specific camp if there appear to be issues. If they are pulling SI zones from live they should all be fairly similar anyhow. |
