400 is tooooo low for wow (esp vanilla). Emerald Dream have seen 2k+(now they have 1500 limit or something like that) and it wasn't still enough.

We could easily turn this thread into a ****** fest between ED and Rebirth, but let's not. I've played on both and I'm happier at Rebirth by far (less bugs, happier crowd, etc.) For me, I only need ~40 others to be happy in raiding / WSG / AB / AV. Not sure what epicness you'd come up with more players online at the same time? didn't see too many 1500 player battles in hillsbrad or other open world pvp, lol.

anyway, to get back on track the end note is: I want to play Uthgard DAoC more than Vanilla WoW - Keep up the great work uthgard devs!

is there open world pvp on rebirth? Or just raiding?^^

400 online (More than half of it is -60 prolly like every freeshard) means long queue for bgs and less choice of guilds to raid with. Even with 2k+ players it takes time to join a bg or build a group for 5 man. That's why I thought 400 pop is too low. I wasn't implying ED is better than Rebirth. I haven't even heard about Rebirth before and I hate the attitude of ED staff so I'm not playing both.

I know that Uth staff wants to make it perfect but... Not many players start playing an old game like DAOC, and Uth loosing its playerbase everyday to another game or server.

People are trying other games,yes, but most of them also realize that there is no game like daoc out yet and so they just wasting their time on semidecent NEW games (Failablo3, teso etc. !) and are waiting for some "oldschool" daoc.

Old school daoc is in our minds, it's a dream that will never be real again.

playing WoW now.. more or less fun.. however.. prefer Uthgard - DAoC.

Every other procect with this level of staff comunication would be declared dead allready by the comunity. Its a the sad bad rep the stafd has with comunicating with players that keeps the hope going, but i seriously start to doubt that uthgard will ever come back up. More likely imo is that the domain just comes unavailable & up for sale in the near futurenwithout any comments by blue whatsoever

A good question, will probably not get a lot of honest answers.
Basically I think it boils down to loyalty to this server.

Personally, I will go where the action is. I owe no loyalty to any server, and just want some rvr
Reason why I don't play Live, is that it lacks meaningful (as meaningful as daoc gets) PvE.

Yea i've wondered if they just stopped working on the server. I check daoc portal periodically and it never shows anyone connected. Makes me think they just said ok F it and stopped... It honestly isn't hard to make a post ONCE a month that simply states....

"hey guys, we just wanted to keep you updated that were are still working on things. Quick notes of what we working on is classes, mechanics, your mother, and crafting speed.. stay tuned!"

You guys can say whatever you want, but if they should really reopen the server for some reason, you'll check it out anyways. Personally i pretty much lost the hope, especially after a few guildmates and me invested more than 500 hours of testing for the defense penetration. Still not even a hint for the relaunch. GMs themselves are probably inactive by now and they never really shared informations with the community.
I'd still give it a try, if it should really re-open, because i want to experience the good old uthgard with all its people, all the trolls, all the flamers, all the enemies and friends. Might be somewhat different since its old ras, but im sure that everybody had some good experience in the past and gives the server a try.
So lets just wait and we might see uthgard pop up in a few months or even years

Long time forum stalker, first time poster. Just wanted to say I and several friends are looking forward to the relaunch. Genesis is not curing the itch... at all. Fingers crossed it's soon!
