Just one step in the right direction with many others in the future(I hope). Custom changes that Improve or don't effect RvR, but makes things easier and more enjoyable are always Allowed in my book.

If I remember correctly Blue said that there won't be barrels again. More like a 10charge per pot solution, which solves the timesink problmen pretty good as well

And i bet they will keep asking for barrels, even if stacks of 10 pots will come while staff keeps announcing "No barrels!"

Seriously: Noone left the server just because e.g. barrels were removed. Taking 5 Minutes to restock didn´t ruin your day in DAoC. It´s more the hardcore players that play 4+ hrs/day that complain about timesink.

Whoever left due to one single patch here would have quit anyways, they just needed a reason.

Let it be known that Anri was the greatest Dwarf Runemaster ever to touch Uthgard.

I think a few things are important for a successfull launch of the new Uthgard. Especially when you're looking at how origins fails to offer a stable service.

- Make XPing a little bit faster (not as fast as on origins, but not as slow as it was before on Uthgard). A mix between the two would be perfect. Also allow powerlevelling, so it's not as painful for a guild to get a new member up for RvR, for example.

- Old realm abilities & Shrouded Isles: Well this is going to come anyway, but it's an important cornerstone, because it stands for the true, classic DAoC feeling.

- Convenience: Don't make it artificially harder than it has to be. Potions, for example, should have stacks. It doesn't hurt anybody and it makes it more user friendly for RvR. Just make potions with 10 charges and it should be fine.

- Aim for a closer release: 1 Month would be cool, because the sooner you release it, the more players you can draw from origins. Origins did get a lot of new faces into the freeshard scene, and if you launch while origins still has massive problems with stability and lag (which they probably will, at least for a couple of more weeks) then a lot of those would roll on the new Uthgard.

We would love to, but without a team of highly trained programming monkeys, I'm afraid we have to get the work done ourselves and this takes some time.

I made this mistake of trying Origins..... holy crap the lengths you have to go to just to patch and then their server is never up at least not for me. Makes me value the ease and stability that uthgard offered to get online, so easy. I would like to say to anyone trying to push a definite time line for when the server comes backup.... KNOCK IT OFF. Do you want them to fix everything? Or do you want them to rush not get everything as good as it can be and then have to do this all over again. To the uthard powers that be, I for one am grateful that you are spending your time and energy on making this as good an experience for us as you can. Please don't feel pressured by a few impatient people because those that truly value this server and are worth having will wait patiently until you guys are ready.

People should stop with this barrels thing, i was a solo player and i dealed fine without barrel. Its not because they dont put it back that they dont listen players. They already listened a lot by cleaning and doing a revamp, taking time for fix bugs/finishing work on old ra and SI. What do you want more ? thats already a big work. And its gonna be classic. Barrels wasnt there. So Deal with it, more than 1 year they are gone, you wont have them back
2012:<@[Uth]Abydos> If we don't have SI by the end of the year, Im fairly certain I wont be a GM anymore :-p

Thanks for the update! Will you perform a kind of "test" or "beta" version before you go live with Uth 2.0? :)

Yes, there will most likely be a stresstest before the relaunch. We will announce this in the news!

This.

Ports would be interesting when very low activity. Better let people get PA'd on horse XD
