Uthgard Revamp

It will be fun to start all again from the beginning
![]() DAoC is fun, whatever you play, whenever you play ![]() It's just a pity for those who left their real life to "invest" time in their toon on Uthgard (girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband, children, job sometimes, family, etc.), but at least, it's a good lesson: Virtual remains virtual. Virtual things can vanish at whenever. (2008 is not so far away!) >>> Please click here and Save the Pandas! They need us! They need you! <<<
Best Realm Rank will be 1L1 ! |

prewipeday - all the problems seemed so far away now it looks the chars have gone away oh, I believe in prewipeday suddenly - this is not the game it used to be there's a clean-loot hanging over me oh, damn wipe day came suddenly why probs had to grow, I don't know - they wouldn't say it feels very wrong, now I long for prewipeday prewipeday - "this is such a killer game", I'd say now I need another shard to play oh, I believe in prewipeday |

I must say that I have been on this server for 4 years. I have rolled many toons and got most to rr7+. My last toon I rolled was about 8months ago and I got it to rr7. I never had a lot of plats but always made good temps with decent items. What I see is the people wanting a wipe are the same people in our society that are on welfare and want a easy way through life. I my opinion either work for it or gtfo!
After this wipe I can put my finger on it that in 2 years the same QQ will come out. You want to be a good player, rich, or known? Work for it! Life isn't easy and nor is a game! |

I have to agree with the welfare statement. Punish us because people are crying because they have it hard. Welcome to the real world. I started here never playing DAoC and I've reached RR 8. I kept at it and earned my way, I didn't cry and expect people who had put time in to give me stuff. There is absolutely no reason anyone can't do the same other than they are lazy and want easy mode. The fact the gms are catering to this is ridiculous. Just release the new server insta 50 rr13 and be done with it. Then these lazy welfare players can compete, but they will learn that on the same level they still lose. We have said many times sticking to 1.69 livelike gtfo will kill the server. We went unheard. New server opens up and a few people ask for a wipe to copy origins and you listen. All you have to do is undo your mistakes, add the custom features back. The server will live, make changes that are pro rvr . Every change you made was anti rvr and you wonder why your rvr game died. But hey the people who have been here for years don't know anything and you should listen to the people without experience. Before you say so and so from requiem/mb/any other elite guild agrees just think about why. They will get to 50 and farm all you noobs until they are the rr cap. It will just be easier when they aren't fighting high rr enemies. By the time the average player hits 50 and whatever rr bg there is, they will be far past that point for a long time. Hope you guys reconsider. by Blue » Jun 19, 2012 15:56 PS: Ginsu, if this is not a serious question and more a troll attempt you will get a ban next time as I don't like if somebody wastes our time with such questions. |

Just an advice to Uthgard. U want be a good alternate to Origins ?
make a server almost like live, just without Champion Level / and without chars like ( vamp/warlock etc..) and with nf map. And u will se how fast your server groves again. That way u are good alternate to Live Sever and origins. And u can just check it if ppl interested by voting. And ofc u must stop arrogant god mode behaviour like in the past ![]() And u should try better comunication with the comunity. |

Really disappointed to see the culmination of a string of terrible decisions end in a complete wipe of years of character development. For some reason I can't bring myself to believe the future will be any different then the past, in regards to listening to the playerbase instead of the history of "it's my ball, I do what I want" attitude I've witnessed.
Except now, people have a choice and I think it's become quite clear (even though the playerbase had been expressing these issues for years here) that the choices that had been made did a very good job at pushing people away. I'd love to keep playing here, but to have everything you had spent immense time developing be washed away.......there will always be a looming threat of it happening again, and I'm sure I won't be the only one that feels that any statement made saying this won't happen again will be just as believeable as "SI and old RA soon!!!". Sigh...just disappointing. Alb - Eternitys, Eternityz, Spectres, Prophecy, Phantasm, Swarm
Mid - Spheres, Cicada, Aalea

There have been enough personal attacks in this thread. Please stop this.

You guys are over exaggerating, 9 years of this awesome game has been given to you for free, and 9 years of no character wipes! To me that is a good track record because lets be honest 9 years is a long time. Players have come and gone but the server continues. With the new implementation of Old RA's and SI we must except the fact that a fresh start is a necessity. This game thrives on player population and for that we need players who will find a fresh server appealing, not a 11 year one. Only players that will return to a sever like this are the veteran ones and that is an ever dwindling amount.
Even though Uthgard made many mistake which made rvr and pve more unappealing, this is there chance to learn from those mistakes and create the master piece which is Uthgard 2.0 a true Old RA's/SI server as originally advertised. This server had been running on a New RA system which completely made some classes much more powerful then they should have been. This is why a fresh RA start is necessary. Also with some Items being unobtainable to new players this is why items must be deleted. The last thing is that a fresh server looks far more appealing to new players. The fact is that when uthgard started there was no advertisement and so in the beginning there might have been 200 people max. Now we are in a new era and with good advertisement I could see this server easy getting 1500 players if not 2k( hope it can handle it). Uthgard is Polished, the zones look nice, lag is almost nonexistent, and great people working on it. Everyone deserves a second chance and Uthgard is no different. |

^ This one hit home for me. Over the years DAOC (or my inability to do anything but DAOC when I am playing actively) has gotten in the way of many things. In 2011 i decided to finally quit investing in DAOC and tried to level up IRL. IRL proved to be alot more difficult than DAOC, but after a long struggle I finally reached a place that I consider the equivalent of 50 IRL. Something brought me back here a couple weeks ago (ironically the time double xp weekend was going on), and I didn't come back to my RR6 Shammy...I just wanted to build a toon from scratch, so I made a bard and a BM and had fun grouping with the few players I could find that were my level. It was fun to be poor and oddly enough I missed 'the grind' and meeting new people who would share a common goal for a few hours of PVE. I had been missing this in my quest to level IRL. Everyone needs a break from IRL. When the server whipe was announced, I got my little shammy back in action to say farewell. It was nice to say goodbye for good to him with no regrets. My Point (and this is just me, not implying this is everyone or anyone who is upset): If I had continued to neglect IRL the past 3 years, working on numerous characters and more realm ranks etc. to have this stripped away from me, I can't imagine how I would feel. Devastated and angry probably. Those emotions would blind me from seeing the golden opportunity in front of me. ESCAPE! Take time now to level IRL. Pick up a hobby, take new classes, work harder at your job, go fishing, learn an instrument and start a band with your friends, play racquetball, go swimming, exercise! talk to humans IRL - most of the time they are aggressive mobs or from another realm but there are a few magic ones out there that you'll be thankful to have as the druids/clerics/healers in your group or tanks in your RL assist train. If and when you decide to come back, you won't be able to blame Uthgard or DAOC for getting in the way of IRL leveling and feeling that you are owed something for your time invested. Learning to play DAOC casually has been a lifelong dream for me, knowing that I can play a few hours a night or every other night with less downtime in a larger population on a stable server makes it that much easier to log out if I haven't been waiting all day/night for a good group or decent action. If not, fortunately now my obligations IRL prevent me from falling back into my old DAOC ways *i think* ![]() Good luck to all~ Valleck |

To me it comes down to American population. Like 700+ people on Origins at a time when on uthgard about 150 would be the norm. I see no point in going back to uthgard if it continues to be a 100% Euro server where it can be impossible to even fill a 16 man raid let alone have an active RvR population during American times.

I can take this and twist it around. Imo the old players had monopoly on plats and RR's. Every attempt by new players to RvR got crushed merciless by the high RR's, just like new companies gets crushed by big corporations. I have 5 lgm's, but only 1 RR5+ char. All the plats in the world simply can't make high RR's stop zerging, running 8 man guild groups etc... Uthgard made bad choices, but the players chose to scare away any attempt new players made to run pugs in Emain. The welfare argument is taking the debate one step up, next we'll start seeing Hit... arguments, and that's when we know the thread needs to close. |
|
I know I am repeating myself but it is because people keep saying stuff like this over and over. Losing in a pug that probably isn't even in TS/Vent against a regular 8 man guild group of the same 8 players that has been playing together for years has very little to do with RR and everything to do with skill and knowing your classes. This is already happening on Origins where you see RR2-3 pugs going against rrr2-3 guild groups and getting slaughtered.

I agree wholeheartedly. But when you can't join high RR groups, and you can't gather a good setup group, and when half the people say "No Vent". Then you have two choices, RvR like that or not RvR. Not RvR is what it ended with, and which is why the server slowly died. Had the set groups run 6 man instead of saying: "Hey look, 8 man out, then we can run 8 man!". A prime example was when a 4 man I was in met a 4 (RR9+) man hib, we killed one and then died. Next hibs roll out with 6 vs. our 4 man. This is fine on a server with tons of action, but it's counter productive when we were the only albs out (didn't see any mids either). Needless to say, we logged. This is what I mean. |
|
And a server wipe will do nothing to change these issues. If it manages to break up one of the elite guilds then what will happen is they will fill up the guild with players they trust and everything will continue as usual. The server wipe will get rid of obscene wealth like the mids that have 30 mithral but the whole point of the this wipe is supposedly end game RvR in Emain and I don't see how it will change anything.
