There are 2 opposite stupid way to think:

Easy things = fun
Hard things = fun

The funny is that none of these two are really fun!
The fun is in the middle.

Don't know , but easier it will be, everyone can have it, harder means only few can have it. I think Uthgard was hard. And i appreciate this. I could be wrong.. Exp hard Rvr hard droprate hard.. You need 1-2months to become 50 (if you play 3-4days proweek) This is ok for me. Think it stupid if you want.

You can climb an hill and say -i'm cool!- but even my grandfather can do it. So you can say i want everyone to see that hill! Its good reasoning.. but the world is full of easy hills to climb... So everyone after having climb your hill soon will forget...

You can climb a medium mountain about 2600meters, and feel really satisfy of your skill, you climb it for hours.. and when come back you can tell your friends you did it, They will say, -oh cool!! you are good and after one two months everyone will forget it-

Finally think to the great mountains of the world, Cervino, everest , kilimangiaro... and every mountains over 3500 and so on... , You climb it for day and days (years) and finally get the Top, you cant real imagine what you just did and your satisfaction. And when you tell it to your friends, they will remember it for all the life.

So you can tell me hard is stupid, i will correct you, Hard is for brave, like every Uthgard players, and real Uth players could play even harder than this. Cause they like fight. And Remember... 'if you scale Everest and after years you scale a normal mountain.. You couldnt find any new emotions

yeah.. considering myself as a true uthgard player. make it harder! (have fulltime job and i'm over 30..) still.. make it harder!

If you see it that way, it was by far the best beta of any game I've ever played

If they had done it right from the start it wouldnt have needed a wipe to begin with. I would have to do some serious searching Equade, but in either a personal PM or in some random thread a long time I ago I recall Blue saying that there would NEVER be a wipe here and it would destroy the stability of the server if it ever happened. Crap hit the proverbial fan and now a wipe seems imminent.

The mantra should have been do it right and no need to wipe. Saying it will only happen once is the dumbest thing EVER. The only way they can promise this is if when the server opens they NEVER change anything. Otherwise what is to stop another wipe? Nothing. They already said would never be a wipe and now there is, so saying there will never be another wipe would just be another empty promise. One of thousands given by the GM's over my years here.[/quote]

Of course you can not launch the correct setting right off the bat, I think we can all agree that disputing this is a moot point. (Sorry to say but) See it as a record-breaking (timewise) beta test... *cringe*

This whole subject is really ambivalent to me and I'm having a hard time deciding for myself what I think would be the better solution. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for the staff to make these decisions, and you and I both know we have to adhere to these decisions. Obviously you have a clear opinion of what the right decision is, and I am inclined to agree with you to a large (if not sometimes full) extent, but we are different in our choices of how we will support this change. Give your input because it matters, and let's see how it ends. I appreciate your posts as previously indicated, and I hope that you will support the decision whatever it might be, in spite of your current beliefs.

I know, right? I knew Blue always referred to this as essentially a beta version since the server was getting changed, but never once were the players made to believe there would EVER be a server wipe. The only reason this is happening is because A) A bunch of players who never used the forums till recently are asking for it and B) they think that most people went to Origins for a fresh clean start. So they want to be just like them and give all the new players a fresh start. That will work for about a month or 2, then problems that existed before will exist again.

If you enter a beta test and you know your stuff will be wiped then great. That is fine. However, when you are never once told there will be a wipe and even led to believe a wipe will never come and it happens you can expect some people to be upset. Expecting anything other than that is laughable.

in some weeks.. if all the emotions cool down.. (this RA is usually on a 4+ week timer) and the brains start to think clearly again..
you'll all see this wipe was really needed and you'll have more fun than ever on uthgard.

We are already thinking of ways to do this.
We understand the attachment to names and reputation.

However, dont keep the char names that have been inactive for lets say.. more than 2.5 years ^^, pretty good names are in that list of inactive players tbh. I WANTS THEM

I dont know about you, but no amount of time will make me see this as a good decision just as no amount of time will make me think that Justin Bieber is talented or that Arizona has great ocean front property for sale. Its not a good decision now and time will not improve that.

I counter with saying in time you will see that I am the one who is right. Within a year of the restart of this server you will see the same complaints as you already see in this thread. All the people that are pro Uthgard 2.0 also have 1000 ideas for how to make it better. Each one completely different and the GM's will heed almost none of them. Then you will be right back to where we started.
