the way battlegrounds are being used lately is beyond me, players stay way longer than there is need to, tactics are far from viable rvr and from what i've seen the use of bg's for actuall lvling and xp bonus is deminished, if not non-existant. as i said those potions are post ToA, but so are the battlegrounds, old frontier battlegrounds didn't support players going underwater.

for me the best tactic to deal with things like this is simple, log out or go pve, if things like this happen you quickly loose your feel for the game and frankly you get no pleasure from playing. it's not your job or obligation to amuse others despite personal frustration.

ppl might laugh at you for leaving, but trust me, if you end up in the same trap over and over again, someone out there is laughing pretty loud as well. leave the bg and if you're lucky others will follow you.

all the tricks and tactics in the world mean nothing when there is noone to fight. forgive me the comparison, but it's like teaching a todler, if he gets too greedy or dependant, take away the temptation. by doing so you'll force them to realise that overusing certain tricks and tactics drives they're targets away they'll have to come clean.

and to those using potions for this, it's not doing any good, sure it can give you the edge from time to time, depending on the situation, but actually making it your main tactic in bg's will harm you as much as it will harm the other players there. set yourself up as near invincible and noone will bother to challenge you.

and children... behave, it's really annoying to see more than half the threads here end up in flaming and other childish behavior. some seem to have forgotten than despite the fact that you're 'enemies' you still need eachother to actually have some fun or to increase the fun. some mutual respect goes a long way, further than mindless flaming and sarcastic patronising ever will.

i can understand that you complain about such potion that could become a must be in such rvr.

as the artefact that became must be too and killed the game. sure nereid potions wont kill the game but may be a step.

anyway it's not so hard to kill people with such potion. i remember in thidranki when my group said " they have water breath potions, runaway" and after some root mezz and snare the enemies were down.

if you root some of them and make the others run away np. if you nearsight the healers you got it too. if you assist train no more problem... there are lot of problem to kill people using such potion dont worry.

maybe it s a bit more a challenge but it's not so bad, that trains to be better.

so for myself, i dont really care about potions. maybe i'll use it too to try to kill FG alone in braemar ^^. it's new things in game and is just a step in the evolution... i remember when first item with stats were DF item, it was a must be... after that came craft... after that potions and charge...just a new step to be ubber

PS: there is no /ignore on this forum but after sometimes when you ll see sethor in front of a post, your brain will do it by himself (as some brains do when they see panachier in front of a post ^^)

hey hey :)

well IMO we should jail Norsk Natives!! :p
For starters I should be the one jailed the most since I am the one who makes water pots for my guild... Norsk Natives! LGM Alch ftw!!

I can understand why you are so angry with us.. cause u problaly died in our hands! Over and over...

Dont forget u are not just fighting someone who uses water pots.. there are very experienced players in all realms.. and sometimes is only that.
Ofc that using a water pot is an advantadge but its a tactic IMO nothing more. No advantadge (unless u want to..) here cause EVERYONE can get hands on these water pots. He goes to water? Moves fast? Just stay in land.. if he wants u he will try to get u and he needs to move out of water.
Use ur brain.. is needed in RvR.. not just do spells and see they die. I rememer some days ago Akasheen (healer) and Kerundume (skald) where grped in Braemar.. so I might think that was the day u complain.

And LUV .. I dont agree with u and when u say that water pots removes ppl from bgs.. is a simple thing, to buy a water pot. 20 uses 1h each.. and I sell them for 20g. You just need to search for it!! Its more easy to come here and complain.. its a tactic to use them, no less that its a tactic when bonedancers strafe to avoid styles in mele!!

/offtopic
Panachier, ToA (ML, Artes) did not kill DAoC live servers. Some people
were frustrated about the new must have items and must-do quests
to become ML10, but actually with ToA the servers reached new max
numbers of players, so that GoA had to close character creation for
a short period on some servers.
The slow death of DAoC began when overpowered catacombs classes
were introduced followed by several patches to balance the new issues.
In addition DAoC became more and more easy-mode, so that the needed
time to achieve max-lvl/ML/artifacts/RR was extremely shortened.
But guess what happens if contents of a game can be achieved that fast
and easy...people get bored which leads to many players leaving the
game. These points and the last EA-patches which bring classes of
different realms closer and closer will be a slow but sure death to DAoC
within the next 1-2years.

@Luv: Why do you always run into the same traps? I mean, if enemies
try to lure you into the water you don't have to follow them. Another
point would be to just buy/craft potions for you and your fellows so that
such traps are easier to avoid.

Another point...you mention people staying in the battlegrounds for too
long. Thats exactly what im thinking, too. I'd like to see a deactivation
of the command /rp off in addition to a free levelup from 30 to 31 when
you reach 2L0. As bonus there could be given some equipment as reward
for taking the hard way to 2L0.

The point why you see more and more well playing/group-playing guys
in the battlegrounds is a direct effect of too many players staying inside
battlegrounds while Emain is more or less empty. This means in conclusion
that some of the lvl50 players play their twinks in Braemar to get some fights
and these guys bring extremely good equip, a strong will to fight even if
they die some times and the wisdom/skill of lvl50 highRR rvr tactics.

I am GM of NN already and i play darwa, the shaman who yrd is talking about.

We had to farm a lot for have our crafters . And we use all of possibility in the game . Nereid and not all other these wrong names allow fast movement in and on water. It s a a really usefull thing and extend possibility in rvr action. Thinking it s a cheat could be only the words of a player who doesn t really understand that game.

U want to say u prefer that so slow swimming ??

Yes NN have always some nereids on them.
Yes sometimes that give a real advantage in a rvr battle.

But like i said at the beginning, one of my guildies played hard for give that to them. I can t think we will be treated as some cheaters about that. And before we can have nereids from my guild, i ask on broad and buy some from alchemist crafters.

U say u can t have some , i say u are a liar. I think u only were frustrated like i was when a person defeat me like that. But , not like you who crying around , i did what i can for that never happen again. U think it s unfair ? It s only coz you don t give u the capacity to react in front of that situation.

Btw , see u soon IG and wish u'll have some nereids this time. We will have a good duel i wish.

i always tell myself (or fool myself with it) that i have a choise, i quit daoc live when i lost the feel for the game and it became more routine than fun after ToA. same thing goes here, in order to deal with these 'guerilla' tactics you need to come up with a decent tactic yourself and you need somewhat reliable and experienced players to pull it off, which (in albions case) we lack, especially in braemar. it's always been albions curse to draw more attention from new players, stupid arthurian legends speak to them, while more experienced players or players with a background in other mmorpgs tend to choose hib or mid. also untill recent parts of albion were somewhat reluctant to seek help outside their guild or to work together with others. players favoring guildmates over a needed support class player from another guild. compared to the other realms albion still needs some, if not a lot, of work to function at the same level hib and mid does. which can explain the fact that nereid potions are more commonly used among those realms while albs tend to run rampant and unorganised through braemar, setting themselves up to be target to such things, it's not the only thing thought, skalds patrolling the way from atk to ck on the lookout for lone albs making their way to ck to reinforce albs already there. some fall for it more than twice, some get frustrated and leave, some get help. to reply to youija, the decline in participants may not be noticable, not right now at least, but imo every player that leaves is one too much. most of the players that tend to abandon braemar are new players who often see braemar as a taste of what's still to come. the lack of tactics on albs side and the use of advanced and outclassing tactics on the side of the other realms either drives them away from rvr and into pve or in case pve cant satisfy them they leave alb for mid/hib or in the worst case they leave uthgard for another server. while uthgard claims to be a classic rvr server, the rvr aspect is still one of the most debated issues and often the main reason for players to leave. i strongly believe that the use of these advanced tactics such as nereid potions is hugely overrated and most players who use them dont actually need them to win a fight. it's one thing to get beaten over and over again by someone with superior skill and knowledge of the game and class he plays than to stand defenseless while you get the crap beaten out of you every time you go to 'war'. as some might know, i value courage and guts in rvr, thus these tactics dont appeal to me and frankly if things like this become too common in bg i'll simply stay away and there will be more that share my opinion. i'm not against nereid potions, but stick to them as a secondary tactic, it's just like something else that usually ****** me off beyond all reasoning... i used to run solo in emain rather often, in search of someone who as brave or stupid enough to do the same, mostly... well... all the time i ended up running into a fg or more... call it suicide if you want, but it really bugs me to see a fg vs a solo, unbuffed basic melee fighter resorting to massive crowdcontrol just to slaughter me, getting stunned, mezzed and rooted while i didn't really stand a chance in the first place is really frustrating, it's what i like to call OVERKILL, same thing goes here in bg, constantly resorting to nereid potions even while you dont really need to is overkill, it's not just killing your opponent, it's humiliating him. confronting him with the fact that he/she doesnt stand a chance and intentionally or inententionally telling them they could just as well leave.

as for sethor, i totally agree with the removal of /rp off, it's unneccesary and it bleeds emain dry. i'll leave the practical solution to the gms, but i would strongly recommend them to take a good look into the matter and seriously consider taking away the players option to hold their char at braemar and stop all further advancement.

anyway, mom's slowly getting ****** while she waits for me to come and eat lunch.

greetz,

Bunny

we cant base ourselves on single cases, for starters there's always wilton and now thidranki after braemar and the fact that that a lot of players follow the same idea as you do is probably the main reason there's very little to do in emain. if everyone were to think as you do, the gms could just as well remove everything in the game that goes above lvl 30 and make braemar the end of the line for rvr and lvling. i agree that it's often fun to go to braemar and it's a bit of a hassle to make a new char just because your previous char has outgrown it. but really, most comments on this issue that i've heard so far is basically: we go where the action is. while the fact is that you make the action where you go. the main reason braemar is so active and popular is because of these misunderstandings. the only way i see higherlvl rvr becoming more popular is to partially kill off bg attentants, sacrifice lowerlvl fun to ensure higherlvl fun. if you're lvl 30 and RR2 you should've outgrown braemar and move on. staying behind just keeps another char from participating elsewhere and decreases the interest in emain. just do the math, if all those rr2 chars in braemar were to move on, wilton would be the place to be, untill they reach rr3, then onto thidranki, untill finally emain is once again the main target in rvr, as it should be. thus eliminating the reason why most lvl 50 players claim they need to go to braemar to have fun.

right now we're just stuck in a downward spiral dragging everyones attention to the lowlvl bg. we really need to get out of this.

killing /xp off is really not a solution. if you want to force people to do what they don't want you just bring problem. if some people want to keep a char in braemar let them keep it.

i love my wizard in braemar and i need to practise him and help new guild mates to get some rvr skills and RPs. why would i be forced to build a new char just cause soem people think it's better for the server...? am i not enough in emain? think not...same thing for elwin or lot of other players...

oups i am out of subject...but maybe it's cause i don't really care about nereid and nothing new has been added from my last post...

Panachier, I love my Braemar Thane and SB, too. They are well equipped
and usually I am able to win fights against up to 3 melee classes. I assume
this is a lot of fun, but actually all of this Braemar twinking is only a phenomenon
on freeshards and especially on Uthgard.

I know absolutely no player on live servers who abandoned their main characters
in favor to run low-battleground twinks.
One of the reasons for this is the limited number of character slots on your
account on live. For further character slots you have to pay another account.
And tbh it is not really a problem to level a Braemar toon from 1-30. You still
got the equip, but at least an /rp off + freelevel when reaching 2L0 to kick
your char out of the bg could prevent the twinkspammage in Braemar.
And btw...to become 2L0 you got to kill a lot people in there.

oki force people to do level 29 braemar RVR char...
it's not a good thing...

please stop to think in place of players... it's not cause you want people in emain that they have to do... if they enjoy in BG why should they go in emain cause YOU want... it's a freeshard and the only thing that is free is the price... you can't do what you want to...

people in emain can be nice... if they dont want to go there.. why should they?
