Hello all. Played here a long long time ago, but I cannot remember my old account info, anyway, reinstalled DAoC via the patcher, made sure my .NET is 3.5. Then downloaded DAoC portal. . . . and cannot connect no way no how.

I made sure DAoC and the portal are open for my firewall.

I currently get the authentication error: the other side didn't respond in time.

I don't remember there being any problems connecting before.

Wow, I remember this place being a lot friendlier to "outsiders" and a lot more helpful.

Please post a screenshot of the exact error. Also make sure you have followed the how to connect guide at http://uthgard.net/howtoconnect exactly.

Followed the how to completely

Under the "free shards" tab you can connect to Uthgard there. Alternatively, under the custom shard, set the ip/hostname as "server.uthgard.net". That IP is no longer valid.

Worked like a charm.

Please note: No shards appear on the freeshard section of the portal. In fact the server list never populates at all for thus why I did the custom shard.

I read elsewhere that DOL server has been down for some time and that's why the server lists didn't populate. I don't know, just trying to point out that I tried googling a ton of things before coming here to bother people and ask for help.
