Laptops usually don't have that since they are not being built in order to run a bunch of virtual machines and stuff like that.

The only thing you can do is to buy a SSD and run Win 8.1 on it and put the daoc client on a good and fast 7200rpm with a 64mb cache.

@Fiordiluna. With that rig you shouldn't experience big issues at all.

Before reinstalling drivers or installing new components, I recommend to do the following:

1) Check the connection to the Uthgard server. If it takes very long before the loading bar starts to move, maybe something is wrong with the connection. Open up the DOS box and perform a tracert. Check out if there are any hops with increased latency.

=> hit the windows-key and enter CMD in the search field; a black window should now appear
=> enter the following command: tracert 88.198.56.21

2) Are you using a proxy or do you play over a shared internet connection? Proxies may delay the loading time / connectivity. On Shared internet connections, other users could potentially overload your connection when using peer2peer filesharing tools such as torrents.

3) Check the installed and active software. Sometimes users have too many programs running in the background. This can reduce loading speed.

I have solved the problem.

I installed windows xp prof 32bit and i had to change the option from AHCI to IDE in Bios. Now iam using xp for daoc and only 3GB ram. But its enough and portin times are quick as usual.

Cheers

Glad to see you fixed the problem, but after reading this I figured I would clarify something anyways. He cannot disable hyperthreading because his processor does not use it. He has an AMD. Hyperthreading is an Intel technology.

@Sethor:
1) i'm not experiencing lag during game. If i had issues on tracert or connection lags, i should experience those while playing too, not only on some kind of login server

2) Using router and standard DSL connection. No proxies, no shared thingies, no ip changes.

3) I could try using Gamebooster to get rid of all unnecessary programs in the background, but i still don't think it will solve anything, cause it's not related to load speed, but to 'acknowledging times, before loading happens'. I'll try anyway and let you know.

And thanks, of course.

Update

Tried on Gamebooster (closing all unnecessary processes and applications). Gamebooster said 42% performance increase (ok, it's just lol or simply advertising), but anyway during play i didn't notice any difference in those pauses

Actually maybe i forgot to mention it. I'm playing in windowed mode (not that makes any difference from full-screen on this matter), and whenever i ZONE in a new region that needs to load, the application stops, and the window title receives the "Application is not responding" message.
So this is another proof that it's not related to loading or disk accesses, isn't it?

So take some patience and Format C: install Windows 7 and u can finally don't even see problem like this!
Why you don't mention before this? :p
But anywas was first thing i say to you
