Hi there,
I've got a new labtop for a few days now, running really smooth when i'm playing but for some reason it's taking for ever to load an area (e.g porting from castle sauvage to emain). Any idea what would cause that ? Computer is running on windows 8 64-bit, processor AMD E1-2100, 6GB Ram, gfx card Radeon HD 8210. remove custom UI and check the loading times.
also which drive is the game installed on, what speed drive is it and how much spare capacity does it have? |

Problem fixed, cheers mate

I have a similar problem. I have a good enough computer to make the game work good, fast and without lag. My loading times are acceptable (i mean the loading screen, when the loading bar appears and starts filling, it's a matter of 3-5 seconds total).
But whenever i ZONE any character (and it doesn't matter WHERE), the game freezes and stays there... still .. thinking.. 30-40 seconds, before realizing that i DID zone, and then it makes the loading bar appear. That happens somehow even on login and logout of those characters. UI is not the issue here, and not even lag or ping or ip routing. I can't figure what the problem is. Vista64, 4gb ram, quadcore cpu, ati3870. Not a supercomputer, but more than enough able to make me play smoothly. I repeat: never had any lag DURING play. Only it hangs when he needs to acknowledge that i am actually changing zone / porting, before he starts load the new area. Any idea? |

do you have power saving mode enabled on your HDD's?
maybe.. and its just a random thought.. they are powering down when you don't use them and take time to spin up again? There really aren't enough parameters provided to allow a more definitive solution. You could, if you can be bothered, run Process Monitor on the camelot.exe and trace what it is doing when you zone. |

First of all i thank you for your answers and ideas, but i'm afraid i have to discard the HDD thing, because i don't think and i don't feel it could be a hard disk problem
Like i said already, whenever i zone, it seems like that the program is waiting for some information on what it has to do, before realizing that he has to process the 'load the new zone' thing (the moment in which first appears the loading bar and it starts filling). I can tell you that it's not the hdd powering down, because of course the system is still doing other things (windows is a busy OS, always doing something), and the hdd led is actually blinking from time to time. AND 40 seconds of hd powering down are somewhat.. O.o But i will try to use that process monitor (and i think to get some more info about that, because i need to know how could i gather info from that and how can i get noticed of the various phases the process is having, besides the memory usage, the cpu usage and the net usage). |
