Spirit Spec Cabalist Bugs

Done some testing tonight using my L41 Spirit Spec Cabalist to try and work out my final spec for the character. However in doing so I noticed a few oddities, which are listed below. Sadly I never played a cabalist on live to know whether these are bugs or just 'features' of the Spirit Specline.
1) Pet heals do not seem to scale with extra points of +SPIRIT that come from items. I heal for the same amount regardless of whether those items are equipped or in my inventory. However the points I have spent into the Spirit line when I level do seem to be applied as a bonus to my heals. I.e. Reanimate Simulacrum has a base amount of 181 HP. I have 41 points in the Spirit specline, and am currently healing for 226 HP (approx 181 HP basic + 41 from my SPIRIT skill). I was expecting that adding +5 spirit from items would raise the heal amount slightly - but it appears to have ZERO effect on the heal amount. 2) I am unsure if the pet buffs are meant to scale with extra points spent in the SPIRIT specline - but the buffs certainly dont appear to scale with + SPIRIT from items. I tested my pets outgoing and incoming damage per hit against blue con Granite Giants in Dartmoor - both with and without + SPIRIT items equipped. There was no noticeable difference in average pet dps or damage received whether the + SPIRIT items were equipped or not. Whilst this was fairly limited testing (30 hits incoming and outgoing) I would have expected to see a wider gap if any sort of scaling was being applied. I.e. If pet buffs do scale with points in to Spirit line, then they dont appear to gain any extra benefit from + SPIRIT items equipped by the player. As there is only a +10 STR/CON difference between the L40 buffs and L50 buffs then basically the pet almost reaches max effectiveness by Level 41 - with little apart from the Body debuff to entice players to spend more points in the specline. I can understand that some styles need the player to sink skill points to unlock them - but considering that damage classes gain considerable benefit from +Skill items then I find it very unusual that on Uthgard there appears to be ZERO benefit from +SPIRIT items for SPIRIT spec cabalists. Happy to do further testing if required - but something definitely seems broken with the lack of +SPIRIT item scaling!! |

Hi,
As far as i know, Petbuffs and Heals should behave like normal Buffs/Heals. Baseline Buffs/Heals get up to 25% Bonus if your Skill in the Spec is >= Level of the Spell. Specbuffs and Specheals always get these 25% (because you can't get the lvl 35 heal with 20 points in Spirit). 25% of 181 = 45. 181 + 45 = 226 So, in your Case you need 48 points in Spirit (e.g 40+8, 44+4,....) to squeeze the max out of Baselines (Str-Buff, Dex-Buff and the Heal). More +SPIRIT will just improve your Pet-Recycle. At last, i have no livetest but assert, it's working correctly and this thread may be moved to support section ![]() Last edited by Barney on Aug 28, 2013 11:44, edited 1 time in total.

if u want to know something about spirit cabby here or in live servers ask Jezz

1. healing: the spell u mention is level 35...so if you have 36+ in spirit (be it 35+1 or 30+6 or whatever) you'll heal for 125% of the delve value: 181*1.25 = ~226...so, that's just fine and works correct
2. as for buffs: with 41 in spirit you already have quite high buffs and basebuffs will almost use 125% of their value depending on your level...example: basebuff with +42 str (L41 spell) will give 42*1.25 = ~52 strength with 42+ or more in spirit..with 41 it prolly gives like 50 or 51 strength...the same formula as for healing is applied...specbuffs will always give 125% of their delve-value (e.g. +61 str-con will always give 76 str-con), as you need to have the spec up to the level of the spell... I did a whole lot of research in this area and the buff-thingie was in part implemented in my research...for further information check the bugreports-en-thread "caba bugs", which i made loooong ago...there's in depth tests there with long live-tests and stuff ![]() see here: uthgard.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=22668 edit: btw my sc-temp does not include any +spirit...currently i got 48+4 spirit and everything's fine ![]() Genuine Spirit Cabalist since 2002

Moved to Support (en). I'll leave this open for further discussion, however.

Thanks all for the replies - my previous chars on live and uthgard tended to be melee or ranged dps so I'm not very knowledgeable about healing or buffing mechanics.
So, for the per to gain full benefit from the baseline spec buffs I need 48 spirit - the question is whether the extra two points to get the last spirit specline is worthwhile? Stopping at 48 would allow me to get the L22 focus shield from the matter line - or I could get 50 spirit and lose 5dps from the focus shield. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions ![]() Can't wait to try the L47 spirit debuff with Sapphire Simulacrums lifetap ability! |

1. if you only spec to have better buffs, stop at 46...the 2 points is just not worth lacking body or matter spec (depending on what you wanna do) - 50 spirit is definitely not worth it - you can easily put the points into matter or body and be better off...
2. for debuffing sapphire-proc dmg: make sure you got the right buff...i remember some issues with the dmg-types of the pets and i know one of them was energy, though it shouldn't have been...maybe better test with the yellow debuffs first, before being happy about the soon-to-have purple ones ![]() 3. i dunno if you focus on pve or pvp but just my 2 cents: if you wanna do pve either go full matter for focus-shield or go spirit-body for pet gaining agro and then nuking debuffed target down...using low-lev focus shield with spirit line doesn't seem a good idea to me, though i never excessively tested it ![]() ![]() Genuine Spirit Cabalist since 2002

Thanks for the advice. The damage shield is really for PVE - as testing versus dunters and granite giants show my pet can already tank 8+ mobs with low level damage shield enabled, and I still dont get aggro when I heal the pet. Should mean that I can focus pull pygmy goblins very efficiently for solo cash farming - parking my pet in the middle of their spawn area, set it to aggro and then just keep the dmg shield up with occasional heals.
I already have wild Minion 3 - and intend to get WM 5. Using sapphire against casters in RVR can be quite scary when he gets a proc on the lifetap - which is why I was interested in the spirit debuff. Currently I cant decide between going 44 spirit (boost last rank of heal) / 30 matter (20dps dmg shield), or to go for 47 spirit (spirit debuff) / 25 matter (15dps shield plus nearsight III). Edit - should just say Im hoping in RVR to hang back and then send the pet against enemy casters once the initial mezzes have settled. The pet can be quite scary against casters and ligtht tanks - with quite a few solo kills versus orange con players simply because i managed to hide out of sight after sending the pet ![]() |

Just realised if I include 7 points of Spirit in my SC template then I can quite happily go with the 41 spirit 35 matter spec - and yet still get the extra bonuses from the baseline buffs and from the last rank of pet heal.
![]() That will allow me Nearsight IV, 20dps damage shield plus aoe dot and a tough high dps pet ![]() |

problem with pet in rvr is: most grps know by now that pets are stronger and tend to clear pets as soon as they realise it...and sapphire has less HP than amber...even fully buffed the pets die in 4-5 casts (or less debuffed) as it is still blue-con to the players, so they deal more dmg than vs. players...also it is very CCable if rr5 is not up or already over...
of your 2 specs i'd go 47-25...ns3 is great and 47 spirit allows for good debuffing...44 spirit is wasted imho... ![]() Genuine Spirit Cabalist since 2002
