Keeps saying its denying my Portal. Ive tried to uninstall/reinstall multipule times and have found nothing works. Please help.
This is what it reads in the Gray box. System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'D:\Program Files\DAoC Portal\Portal.exe' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.File.Delete(String path) at Updater.Program.Main(String[] args) |

I am running Windows XP also.

Access is denied - you may have a copy open already. Reboot then try again, or check permissions on your D: drive

Hi Komplete,
according to the error message you posted, it looks as if DAoC Portal is trying to delete some file that is located in the Portal's installation folder. Being denied of this is mostly due to the fact that the currently logged on Windows user has not been granted enough (administrative) rights to fiddle around with files/folders in the standard "program files" folder. Maybe you can try starting Portal from a Windows user account with full Administrator rights, or you can stick with the current account and - since you're using XP - use the runas-command instead to start just this specific process with a different Windows user's profile. In order to do that, open the command console (Start-Button -> run -> cmd) and type something like this (need to fill in the first two placeholders accordingly):
If all goes as expected you should be asked to type the password of the chosen adminstrator account, and then Portal will be run with the rights to copy/delete/create/move files in the protected Installation Folder. EDIT: Err ... or you could just try Abydos' method which he not just posted like 2 seconds before I posted mine, but he also made it much shorter and is probably right ![]() |
