Tip : the purpose of a reminder is to remind you something that you have forgotten.

An answer like "do not forget" can only justify that the mail reminder is useless.

By the way, i'm not the only to consider it could be nice :

Live Servers gave a Repossession Email Notice for Houses, dunno why not here.

Trying to find the one I received after one of my Live Trial accounts closed (Before anyone attempts, you can no longer purchase houses on Trial accounts as of one of the recent patches.)

Here is a Live Thread where someone states they received yet, another email for whatever reason.~

We have a repo notice. When your rent is due, if you can't cover the next payment, you get an email

I've investigated perhaps 50 or more of these claims. Typically what happens is this:

Rent is paid (from lockbox or consignment merchant). rent is now due in less than 7 days.
Player has less than required amount of money in lockbox but has money on merchant
Player removes money from merchant.
Rent comes due, no money in lockbox.
House repossessed.

The e-mail is sent at rent payment time only.

hmm, dunno what is my opinion about this, i already lost a house cause I just forgot to pay rent and didnt get any notification that my house will be crushed so I used to to pay rent from my merchant from this date and was fine.

Would be nice to lock a house if rent can ´t be paid from box and can only be entered by owner and not other ppl & twinks , so Player can see that he has to pay rent as a warning System, I dont trust this email notifications, they can appear in spam folder and just read when it is to late.

edit: lockboxes have been set to zero ? I thought I had money in it but it ´s zero

No, money is always taken from lockbox FIRST then merchant (previously). Now money is ONLY taken from lockbox. Fill your lockbox.

don't affect me, but a lot of players/guilds will loose their houses.

Available House Lots have been an issue for quite awhile now. It's quite frustrating for new players that cannot purchase a Lot until a GM either expands zones or a house gets repossessed. The case here, people never lose their house. Some people had their houses paid off for years before they introduced the Maximum LockBox cap and finally this change.

When they created the Maximum for Lockboxes all excess cash went from the LockBox to the Consignment Merchant. Not solving the initial problem.

Next step I hope they remove the Housing Informant NPC to make House Hunting a more Rewarding experience to those who find the lot. It's pathetic some people exploit this NPC to buy lots then sell for outrageous prices. Removing him would be the first step of discouraging such behavior. Or at least make it so he never releases specific lot numbers and a little more vague in description of each zone's available amount of Lots (Few, Many etc. instead of 2 or 47 lots available).

If by "Rewarding" you mean tedious. The housing informant should give more info not less. Buying a house on Uth isn't a very fun/smooth experience for new people.
There will be a group of people out there who will want this realm to be entirely Mythic-like. Exactly like vanilla, drop rates/xp rates, basically everything and you will not be able to please them unless it is exactly like vanilla.

These people have their nostalgia goggles on so tight it's cutting off the bloodflow to their brain and they believe that vanilla was perfect and nothing was wrong with it.

i second that...the change as it is, is fine...even the "only 7d reminder mail" is fine, though maybe 21 days would be better...

but it should have been announced way more ahead...it's not like some crafting or drop-change, so announcing it far ahead could lead to players "gathering" things before they get removed...would be nice, if you could postpone the change for like 3 weeks so it is effective as of ~10th of july or something...this way people who really are on vacation or whatever have a chance to take actions...

the problem is a little more complex, there are 3 main causes:


#1 - occupied lots from banned players
these houses had never been terminated on pera ban. with some money in lockbox and merchant, they had been kept up forever. may be only a few, but over time they accumulated.


#2 - occupied lots from incative players
nearly same problem here. with some money in lockbox and merchant, they had been kept up forever. the 2nd housing patch (move lockbox money over limit to CM) did not fix it, as rent is taken out from CM.



#3 - pricing
many players own multiple houses, because of the exponentially increase of total cost.

assuming you get the lot for 300g, the total costs are-..

1x Level-1 house, fully equipped with chest, bindstone etc.
you get: 1x chest, 1x CM for 5p - rent 4g / week

1x Level-2 house, fully equipped with chest, bindstone etc.
you get: 2x chest, 1x CM for 15p - rent 40g / week

1x Level-3 house, fully equipped with chest, bindstone etc.
you get: 3x chest, 1x CM for 46p- rent 80g / week


2x Level-1 house vs 1x Level-2 house,
both fully equipped with chest, bindstone etc.
you get: 2x chest, 2x CM for 10p
rent only 8g / week


3x Level-1 house
all fully equipped with chest, bindstone etc.
you get: 3x chest, 3x CM for 15p
rent only 12g / week


thats why many players (including me) own more than one. under the line, you get more storage space for less or same costs, even if you pay more for the lot. this is multipled by x3, if you are present in all realms. if there would be more chests in a house or bigger ones are cheaper, this would not be nececary.

but main problem are houses from points #1 + #2 .

ON LIVE:

you need more space, you have to pay extra (bigger house that costs more than 2 small houses)
if you want to have extra stuff you have to pay more. not a linear function...

here on uth u are not limited (no masteraccount not even 1 house per account). thats uthgard. be happy that you can suck yourself up with x houses while new players are struggling because of this non-livelike greedy and/or capitalistic behavior...

but now ppl are crying here that they can many vault for cheap, but they have to log and check in frequently...
thats now your other side of the medal...

OTHER people that go afk or longer in vacation have to bear with this change. but dont forget this change was made due the fact of greed aka pf 2x small houses are cheaper than 1x bigger house... "so i take the cheaper version and ****** all newcomers. who cares..." that is the most disturbing part in this discussion...

due to low population, its not been a problem in the past to own multiple houses. and as far as i have seen, still not all lots are activated and not all free are listed on NPC. no need to cry about multiple house owners. the real problem - if there is any - are lots from inactive players.
