Hi, here's my story, just need to know who I can pm or email to get an account belonging to me deleted.

Basically I started playing and got about half an hour in to playing on Alb before I had to log off and go do some real life stuff. Logged back on and when I connected to the server it went back to the realm select screen (the main one you get on a brand new account) so I thought to myself that I'd try out Hib. I did and played to about level 5 as an enchanter before deciding to head back to Alb only to find that the realm select button on the character select screen was disabled and I couldnt switch servers again.

A bit of forum research shows that the accounts are supposed to be locked to 1 realm so though I might have experienced a bug in the first instance (letting me log onto a different realm to the one with my character on it) the account being locked to a realm is normal.

So long story short I created a new account, I dont need the old account anymore and would like to get it and the character attached to that account deleted so that I can free up the character name again.

Who do I need to pm/email and what information will you need?

account /characters below lv 10 that are not crafters are deleted on regular bases, due database consumtion and the relative small ammount of time required to reach that level, if this is not your case then you can try to reach GMs by IRC/PM, if it is your case then there is no chance to get character restored.

Are you sure you didnt misstype in account name?

We do not delete accounts a perma ban is set to year 9999 so if live long enough could play again ^^ but as stated characters not accounts below level 10 are deleted if not a high level crafter to get rid of name place holders. Be ssure you tped in the correct account name if is correct account name and you miss type the password 10 times in row you are brute force banned for 1 hour.

I have browsed through some of these pages in the past, just to see some names people are hogging up (As I have waited ages for some names to free up, yet still have not since I started playing here). Would it be possible to make a second check if their craft skill is at least above 200 or 500? That is assuming when the staff means "Is not a crafter" allows people to just start a craft and be exempt from deletion forever.

There is a minimum craftnig skill required

Just to confirm, the account name was correct. As Daoc Portal remembers your account name you dont have to retype it hence no chance of my having mistyped. I also, just in case, checked my email to confirm that id got the account name right when i just tried.

Im not sure how permaban relates to my issue, or temporary bans for that matter, I havnt mistyped a password at any stage. But if its the case that accounts arnt or cant be deleted then thats fine, I'll just have to rely on the automatic character deletion thing.

Lastly the amount of time between my having logged off the initial character and when I logged back in was a matter of a couple of hours, how long is the automatic deletion set up for?

Months. If you registered you email (as you should - it is required to continue playing past level 10) you can use account recovery. Click the link on the left.

Thanks for the help though that unfortunately doesnt get me any further to resolving the issue. I clicked on account recovery and it gave me 2 options, ive forgotten my account name and ive forgotten my password neither of which are fitting for my situation since i know both my account name and my password. I tried the password one anyway but thats just sent me an email with a password reset option.

I read somewhere on the forum about GM's possibly being able to change the flag on an account that makes it Alb/Hib/Mid. Is this possible and if so how do I request this be done? as that would solve my problem immediately.

you said in your very first post that you only played for half an hour. whats so hard about just restarting? you know you were not a high lvl so it wont take very long to getback to where you were.

He just wanted the name back.
