Hello ,

I am Currently a Live player that just downloaded and installed daoc portal. I got it up and running and was inside Uthgard playing on my zerker. Then I decided to log off and go back to live momentarily when i realized I couldnt patch live servers and it was coming up with an error. I had daoc portal installed in the past, but I cannot remember if i needed to create a 2nd directory for daoc portal that was seperate from live, thus enabling me to play live and uthgard seperately. I know i did something like this in the past where i created a different folder/directory or something ..one for Live and one for uthgard. There use to be a "How to Connect" explanation for this with the proper name of the uthgard or daoc portal directory that u had to create or rename specifically seperate from live. Thanks for your help.


Ps. I hope this problem sounds familiar to some, id like to log in and play uth then back to live again with no patching issues.

make sure the game.dll process isnt running in task manager before patching live

ok, so I dont need a seperate directory just the c : Electroinc Arts / daoc that Live client uses? interesting,when i was playing uth a year ago i had a seperate one.

just seeking more confirmation before i make any changes, thanks.

We recommend you keep two copies, or you'll need to download and install mods each time you connect to Uthgard.

yeah ok, welll how do i go about doing it so i dont keep screwing up my live client ?

i forgot how ..i have daoc portal installed i just dont know what folder to specific the patches to go into.

When u go into file/settings etc , I dont know the installation path to use. Any help is appreciated, ty.

Click client, set active client. Note the "#" that is selected as active (probably only #1 ) and that path.

you can go to that folder listed there, right click, choose copy. Find some other location, right click, paste. WHen that is finished, choose file, settings, select # 1 from the dropdown, choose browse, find the folder you just selected, then click ok.

you can verify it "took" by going to the client dropdown again. You should now be set to use the original client for live, and the copied client for Uthgard. Note: if you are patched to live, you'll need to patch one more time to play on uthgard.
