Hey there, I'm relatively new to the Uthgard Server. I played DAoC for years and years a long time back, and I thought this sounded like a fantastic idea for my friend and I to come back and enjoy. For the first few days of playing, everything worked just fine, without any interruption. I played for several hours a day, completely fine. All of a sudden, I restart my computer, and now DAoC Portal won't open at all. And when I say that, I mean I double-click the Portal icon, and it immediately gives me an error message.

I get the following error Message -----

Font issues? Whaaa?

Now before I get burned out of this forum, I promise I've done a couple hours of research for this problem. Portal seems to be many years old with lots of different bugs throughout those years, so there are a LOT of posts that are outdated and do not help the problem I have. Those that I have found that came close to my error message told me to do some things, so here is what I have tried thus far to fix my problem:

1. Reinstalled DAoC Portal twice.
2. Restarted computer. Many multiples of times, all throughout these steps.
3. Reinstalled DAoC. Then reinstalled DAoC Portal once again.
4. Downloaded .net 4.5, installed. Rebooted computer.

So, I'm kind of at a loss, and really quite sad, because this game was my first and greatest MMO ever. Any help would be appreciated very much.

Verdana Bold should be installed in any Windows installation by default. Try getting a clean version of this font from your windows installation disk.

Really, you cant expect software working properly if such bugs appear on your system:

System.ArgumentException: Font 'Verdana' does not support style 'Bold'.

Checking my fonts directory, Verdana is still right there, along with all normal Windows 7 install fonts. Absolutely nothing fishy with it, as Verdana appears numerous times in many applications and is a standard for Windows. I have even done a system restore, and the fonts are still there from before as well, just in case something was missing where it was too hidden to see.

I build computers, I don't really have many issues with basic problems and error messages. My system has no problems running nearly anything, so I'm not exactly going in blind here, either.

The only problem seems to be with DAoC Portal. It seems to be a unique problem, and in that sense, I feel I may be out of luck for the moment. I'm just clinging to the hope that someone, somewhere has had this problem before.

Well, Verdana might be there - but what about Verdana Bold?

Check out this link, you shouldn't need to find your Windows installation disk and go that route, this provides a quicker solution.

Other posts from that page says that some Windows 7 Installations are simply missing them all together, however there is an optional update for Windows that provides them as well.

It would appear that, amidst installing .net 4.5, running a sfc /scannow, restoring to a previous save state, and every single one of your guy's suggestions, this problem was fixed. I also re-installed .net, likely a faulty install the first time around.
