Some things come to mind:

I think it has some benefits to making it an "event". Probably more teams make an effort to show up. I know my group would show up if a time was specified, otherwise we'll just logon whenever is convenient for us and maybe some people not at all. So at least ONE more group would be there for an event with a time...maybe more.

Having an event in a specified area is kind of like agramon and mainland for people who played on live servers once that was implemented. agramon is for 8vs8 with respect rules etc, and mainland you can take an 8vs8 there, but can't complain of people adding, or stealthers, or zergs out there etc. such is emain here. so it has that benefit as well

However.....as I understand it, when people start doing stupid things in emain like too much adding or zerging etc, don't 8 mans just go fight in mid frontier anyway? seems like the event would be the same as that.

maybe I don't know what I'm talking about though, haven't run a regular 8 man here since 2010.

I think a 4vs4 event would be great though 8)

the staff won't actively support such an event, but i'm sure if the event finds enough participating groups, these groups could "lock" an area down, so every intruding group, if it's not like 50+ people gets killed before they reach the current fights...

there's several possibilities for doing this:

if there's like 3 grps from each realm then there's at least always 7 grps not fighting...i.e. 2 or 3 from every realm...you could do that for example in hadrians wall...if for instance a hib vs mid grp are fighting right now there'd be 3 alb grps and 2 mid/hib grps free...so 2 fgas could camp hmg, 1fga+1fgm camps mmg and 2 fgh+1fgm camps the narrow passage from pennies to hw...imho 2 fgs should be enough to keep a reasonable amount of enemies long enough behind a milegate for the actual 8v8 to either finish or to get the other 2 fgs from the other milegate to help...

with a little coordination this shouldn't be possible and yes it is duel like fighting but the grps don't donate anything and the zone is completely free to be used, so grps won't camp in 1 spot and wait for inc there...as grps won't be ressed and stuff the fights are no rp-farming either, so that should be fine...

Wtb a second Behemoth or even a similar player organized event. Ya, the reward promise was a fail, but it was the best player event in the last years so far... not the xxx remake of a stupid xx vs. xx event.

anyway, got an idea....

I'm not sure about the zone yet, but time should be sunday, 18-23h CET
so hopefully we'll find enough participants :)

I'll talk to blue or so when I'm home and discuss possibilites for such an event etc..
I'll give you another update on event + zone today in the evening

until then - feel free to do some brainstorming etc :-)
but please stay on topic everyone

GM's never supported such events. Maybe blue will enable Uthalis drops in the zone, but nothing more.

And you don't need such things as patroulling grps or a closed extra zone for such an event. I guess We are the main reason for all this fear... we will not interfere and maybe participate.

HA, and i found the old videos from KT from the event in 2010 :D :

And the old thread to the event: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=18569

And there was even a second 8vs8 event, rare blamed for some unfair behavior  : viewtopic.php?f=32&t=18885

I like the idea of Jezzmins idea of looking down a zone and there are several aspecs that promote the suggestion.
On the one hand the 8 vs 8 community can prove their fair play behaviour and also see how big this community is in total with locking down a zone.
On the other hand the staff don't neet to invest a lot of time actively in such an event.

If it works will be seen during the event i guess and i wish all participants only the best and hope that the zergs wont try to rush the event.
Anyway most zergs are still not big enough and on most fights the participants of the events are able to manage some stealth inc as it is managed in the primitime ours of emain too i guess

im not sure if gms are willing to organize or even support such an event with flying through zone, swinging ban-hammer if needed and adding uthalis for kills.

I think this sounds like a great idea. I know many people love their 8 vs 8 and it can be very hard to come by during prime time since there is so many zergs roaming or small mans and stealthers that are adding in. I wish it the best of luck. However, I doubt you will get any sort of banning help from the GM's on this. For the stealther zerg event we had 2 fg's of Hibs camping both HR's that were camping the Mid stealthers coming out the stealth zerg event. Would have been awesome to see them punished, but you cant do that since this is a player event and really those players deserve the right to RvR in a frontier zone. About the only thing you can do is hope the rest of the community backs you up on this and they work together to wipe out the offenders.

Depending on what people have on realms, we could do 8v8 draft pick like on ywain. Those were some epic fights tbh.

this sounds like an awesome idea :) could get in touch with different people etc. but veeery difficult to realize since you have to convince all the high rrs for merging with low rrs

Honestly I don't see what the fuss is about, I am virtualy doing nothing but 8vs8, nearly every evening. True, I mostly play midgard so I am probably spared of the worst zergs, but even on other realms the 8v8 action is pretty good.
