Launch in Administration mode, it opens server list I can select Uthgard (can also attempt using Uthgard on custom shard tab) . Enter account info and password .....
error message is "daocportal loader has stopped working" "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" then window closes. any suggestions? thx |

You should not need to launch DAoCPortal in admin mode.

Turned admin off for daocportal launch but still have the same problem. It launched fine earlier today (to character select screen) and I had to leave before selecting a toon.

I have a similar issue. Was playing yesterday afternoon, until the reboot. After that DAOC portal wouldn't let me start the game. When I click 'Play!' nothing happens. No error messages, nothing. And yes, the settings are ok. I didn't change anything on the computer while the server was offline.
Later on I tried to reinstall the portal and not update it. This time the game started, but obviously it couldn't connect to the server (it only works with the latest portal?). Edit: tried it on a fresh install of Windows, still not working. Definitely a problem with the launcher then... |

Can you take a screenshot of the error? What operating system do you have?

That's the problem. I am on Windows XP and there is no error. Is there a way to show the processes in XP?
Just see the mouse + hourglas for 0.1 sec and then nothing. Also no game.dll in the task menu. I got the service pack as well. |

Do you have any antivirus software running? Try to disable it temporarily and see if it works. Some antivirus software improperly identifies portal as malicious.

Nope nothing. Installed it on a fresh windows as well. It started happening after the reboot yesterday. When it came back online I couldn't play. The other servers in the list dont work either though. Only works on live, or the non-updated daoc portal.

I'm using Portal 2.6 now with game.dll version 1.109 and that works fine. If you're still having problems Darkart, you should try that. Apparently the Portal was updated a few days ago and I didn't notice. Still can't use 2.8a though, but I might have to completely update my Windows first. |

If you have the time I would like to assist you getting it running with 2.8a. We don't get a lot of problem reports. If you don't mind we can arrange a Teamviewer session.

I also have problem with daocportal 2.8a
Its only problem what I have. I run daocportal as admin. I can log via "free shards" and "custom shards" without problem. Any suggestions how to solve it? Running on W7 home premium,in firewall daoc portal not blocked. Screenshot attached.

You need to right click on Uthgard and "set as favorite" first.

I uninstalled 2.8a , installed 2.6 portal. Ran portal and had numerous errors about unable to access change log, libxm12.dll missing etc. Not sure how to tell which game.dll version I'm running.
Attempted to roll back to a restore point before this all started. Restore was successful. Portal is once again 2.8a however when I launch it says mods are missing, crafting, Uth classic, Taj2 . It asks if I want it to patch, click yes. Immediately once mod patch screen opens they all show at failed status. The first patch line labled as "system" hangs at about 25% complete and the patch stalls at that point. If I click the red x in top right corner it shows error "gamedata.mpk was not found. Attempted to try and continue without patching mods, screen goes black with just a mouse pointer and the game never does load. Esc key removes the black screen back to desktop. If I attempt to use the old mod manager, it produces this error "System.Exception: Your game directory is not a valid DAoC Installation. Please set the game directory to a proper DAoC directory! " The game directory has not changed since 2009 program files\EA\DAoC. The Dawn of Light folder is also under EA . |

(a) Is the correct game-folder selected in the DAoC Portal Settings?
(b) Check if gamedata.mpk is within your DAoC game folder. Either way: Try running camelot.exe to fix your client. Be nice. :)
