Yet Another Thread to Suggest Keep Upgrade Benefits

The current system for keep upgrades is understood by all to be borderline retarded. upgrading a keep does just about nothing to make it harder to take, and plasters a big ole "kick me" sign on the keep due to the increased RP reward for attackers.
So why not a very simple fix to not only eliminate that problem, but also give claimed keeps a benefit. 1) Increase the RP reward for taking an unclaimed/lvl 1 keep. Lets say 1000 RPs. 2) For each level a keep is upgraded, instead of the current reward increase system, decrease the amount of RPs it is worth. For the sake of example lets say 100 RPs per level. So a lvl 2 keep would be worth 900 RPs. A lvl 10 worth only 100. Using nothing but the existing code and only changing the value for 2 variables (keep base RPs, and RPs per upgrade lvl), you instantly have a reason to upgrade a keep. and a noticeable benefit to those who choose to upgrade a keep. sure keep takers get less rps, but that is why having the base rps increased makes sense, to maintain an average rps for keep taking about the same, but give a realm a reason to claim keeps and upgrade them. |

OK, so all keeps get captured, claimed and upgraded, who will raid them then? Also I don't think GMs will like the idea of reward scaling inverted to difficulty.

Never, ever.
Idiotic idea. Sorry, but increased difficulty causes less reward? ![]() There are already WAY better ideas floating around. You should don't care about it at the moment. If time is right it will popup in the changelog. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

This thread speaks to a community problem, specifically, that some players seek to prohibit other players from gaining realm points, rather than focusing on their own gains. This is a problem that I personally didn't see on live outside of a very small subset of players (who would run away from fights to suicide rather than die and 'give rps'). In the 8v8 groups, it was seen as bad practice, and in zergs it didn't make much sense. On Uthgard, it seems prevalent (IMO). No technical solution can address behavioral issues with a community.

i don't agree on that. this problem is made by uthgard setting. As it gives like zero bonus to upgrade a keep, which was very different on live. You got more guards, guild rp per every level etc. while you get nothing here for upgrading a keep... no one would have upgraded a keep just to grant enemys more rp on live either... which is also against the sense of the game.
we are not here to give presents, we are at war! |

Personally the issue is not giving more rp to ennemies, it's just useless to upgrade a keep

Still ppl dont ve an idea that giving others more RPs will increase their RvR activity, resulting in more RPs for u as well especially if they had the same mind set. It does cost u 0, i repeat 0 more BPs to upgrade a keep to lvl 4 instead of lvl1
![]() still ppl like to claim keeps on lvl1 which makes 0 sense for more RvR activity ![]() beeing in war dont give any RPs to your enemies, sry thats so gimp and short sighted, cant believe that ppl still trust in that ****** ^^ |

I was looking forward to the idea one suggested in the past, a teleport system to keeps. Thus giving keeps a more influential role for taking/maintaining.

Which is still planned |

And when it will come ? should stop to plan it and start doing it !!!! 2012:<@[Uth]Abydos> If we don't have SI by the end of the year, Im fairly certain I wont be a GM anymore :-p

No there is not more action, at least not for the ones that upgradet the keep. the last 5 times we upgradet a keep (no matter if we upgradet the doors or not), the result was always the same: gone during the night without any inc for us. So it was always just a present for the enemy and senseless for us. |

this happens on alb side as well (I hate agree a troll ![]() It's the thrill of the chase

blue's answer reveals all the problems of uthgard - community is not taken seriously and own ideas are considered to be superior. you do not even waste a second to think about netchels idea and maybe, in the progress of doing so, see new potential or discover new ideas! while i do agree with you, that there might be some disturbing issues with the idea, consider the following: with netchels idea, taking keeps becomes time-critical. getting the people together is quite an effort, more than raiding a keep can be on uthgard (there u have your difficulty, which is not only defined by the time i need to click on the swing button). now u want to re-raid as soon as possible - which accelerates rvr ALOT, even during low-pop-times. like when u raid a keep, u can now suppose that u will get inc soonish, as people would want to reraid it. both sides now have a great incentive to just continue doing rvr and do it fast. the action by one realm is followed by a fast reaction by the other. with the current system, you slow down rvr. there is no incentive for me to reraid a keep right away at the moment, it actually motivates me to wait and hope for it to get upgraded. sounds cool to me, as rvr is slowish and decentralised at the moment, especially for zergs. so thats quite a positive effect of nechtels idea. i also see the weakspot: once all keeps are upgraded and lvl 10, there is hardly incentive to raid them. what would be a solution to this issue? maybe just leave the bonus at 1k rps. its still worth to raid them, yet its so much less fun and harder as just to re-raid a freshly raided keep. then u implement more incentives for upgrading keeps (rp bonus, craft bonus etc.) and both sides will also have a benefit to a) raid, defend, and upgrade the keeps and b) try re-raid quickly. in addition, u offer realm-related bonuses for holding more than x-keeps. bonuses, that actually make an impact. 15% exp bonus, bam. awesome. so much ways to get the casuals and zergs into rvr, making uthgards rvr so much more vivid. so after considering it, netchels idea pimped with some minor tweaks sounds quite cool. what are the WAYYYYY more cooler ideas you have? and why wouldnt u tease them? same old discussion about your communitymanaging skills. guess thats what u have to deal with in a monopol ![]() |

I think the benefit you get for upgraded keeps is fine..the problem is the keep should get stronger each level..meaning more guards maybe just like on live when you claim it to a certain point have guards roaming around the keep..(very nice feature btw)
