Is it against the rules to modify my client-side item models? For example, I could locate the file for the Albion chain gloves that my character is wearing, and update the file to the Scalar gloves model, so it looks like I am wearing Scalars on my screen (while I'm not of course).

I didn't find anything about this in the server rules, and I was not able to find any threads about it... if I've overlooked something and this information is available, please accept my apology.

Just in case I haven't been clear, the changes I'd like to do would be for my viewing pleasure alone. The changes would have ZERO impact on my game play or the game play of others. It would not give me an advantage or anyone else.

Would this be acceptable?

It is absolutely against the policy to play with unsanctioned client modifications here. Anyone caught doing this faces a permanent ban on all known accounts, no questions no exceptions.

The only acceptable client modifications are installed when connecting to Uthgard with DAOCPortal 2.8 when you consent. Anything else is not acceptable.

dear sir from the internet, thats not true. there seem to be a lot of exceptions. small example: berserker vendo or bear mode. just go watch some rvr vids from holsten or many other. :p+

0:53 you can see a vendo instead of a bear^^ i dont like that new bear-model, but saying there are no exceptions is a lie :p

no, its a simple model exchange or rename of it.

vendo change was 1.73... so yeah according to abydos many many players have to be banned :p

edit.:
@mrow
so changing the old vendo or squirrel model that has Zero impact that gives you no advantage seems to be allowed and will not be banned ( i think atleast 30% of uthplayers use old vendo and no one got banned, even uploading the proof to youtube itself xD) so statement of abydos is not true at all

clear statement from staff would be nice here...i haven't got any changed things (not even vendo...tbh idc about it :P )...but i guess many a player wants to know this...

and i understand abydos' statement...if "minor" things are allowed (like vendo thing) then anything is allowed...i guess the staff can't check what was changed but only that something got changed...maybe a player made walls transparent or something...there's many nasty things that could be done with this...

We will provide you with an official classic model fix mod. Do not attempt to change client files.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
Every bug gets fixed. Sooner or later.
