Melee Resists Question (in depth)

First, let me say that there are 3 types of "melee resists" that I am going to use in this thread.
1) Armor absorption (Scale: 27%, RF: 19% etc...) 2) Melee resists from SC (i.e. max=26% @ lv 50) 3) RA Resists (i.e. Physical defense) For the following examples I will be using a lv 50 ranger, using RF armor, max resists (26%) and PD3 (12%). How exactly is damaged mitigation calculated and in what order? For example, is each "tier" of resist mitigated separately, one after another? If this is the case, 12% from PD will ultimately mitigate much less than 12% of the original damage. (100 original damage * .81 from RF = 81 remaining. --> 81 * .74 (resists) = 60 remaining. 60 * .88 (PD3) = 52.8 --> final damage. So, if this is indeed the damage mitigation is calculated, the TOTAL absorbed is only 47.2%. This is much less than if you were to add all three together and combine on the original hit (which would be 100 * .57 = 43damage taken. Can anyone shed some light on the correct method of calculating this? Would be greatly appreciated... Werewoof Cheers,

As a Ranger you should go Purge 2 before PD 3 simply because any Assasin will eat through your PD with viper anyway. Purge->purge 2-IP then some passives then ip2 imo

well my ranger has no purge no ip no pd just because i avoid melee as a bow class and shoot em all down :p |

I believe the man asked for an explanation about melee resists, not your advice on RA spec xD. "He was concerned only with the naked fundamentals of life. The warm intimacies of small, kindly things, the sentiments and delicious trivialities that make up so much of civilized men's lives were meaningless to him. A wolf was no less a wolf because a whim of chance caused him to run with the watch-dogs. Bloodshed and violence and savagery were the natural elements of the life Conan knew; he could not, and would never, understand the little things that are so dear to civilized men and women." |

My thoughts exactly. Cheers,
