Matter vs Spirit Cabby

Okay so I am currently playing a Matter cabby and loving the focus pull and AoE DoT and kite technique for leveling and what not. BG's are not so bad either. I have also started to fall in love with my cabby and was wanting to try out the spirit Spec also and was wondering how viable it is going spirit. Will my level speed slow down and will BG/RvR be more difficult? Anyways just wondering, thanks for your guys feed back.

until mob-pet-fix (buff/debuff influence) is live, spirit cab is a waste of time in terms of levelling...in rvr spirit cab is very viable as secondary caba (the other one using NS and disease)...and for soloing: even with moc3 and debuff-lifetapping it's hard to survive vs buffed rangers/assasins...

on live spirit cab was awesome so all i can say is: if you really wanna got spirit cab its nice (now)...but it's a really hard spec, as most rvr grps prefer trispec or matter...

Points in the spirit line help you to get more power back from converting pets and also help you to have less variance on your heals. Keeping a skill to level helps reduce the cost of the spell if you have focus to that level. The buffs do something, at least I believe they do even the str and dex ones. Do they work as intended? No, but they do something.

While leveling I am personally running some spirit for heals, conversion, and questionable buffs, and matter mostly for focus. I seem to be leveling just fine. In the end game in rvr I doubt that spec would be effective.

ofc the buffs do something, but on uth the buffs are completely broken right now :)

Afaik pet buffs on uthgard will slightly increase the absorb of the pet. Some buffs work, for example haste and damage add, but stat buffs will mostly give you just absorb.

i haven't tested pet buffs on uth, as tests on uth are a waste of time (blue knows how everything works) but i didn't notice any difference even with purple/yellow spec-buffs on pet, so currently i only buff d/q, dmg add, haste and speed...the rest is a waste of mana imho...however, maybe blue can confirm this :)

I basically ended up saying to myself-- I know how the game should work so I'm going to play it that way. So i buff my pet.

I believe at some point when things are fixed It will be this way so -- I'm practicing.

BTW, I played cabs live on classic servers and on andred. I do remember my pet being tougher. If you have a spirit cab with buffs working u can watch it mow down yellows and here im watching blues beat the crap out of my pet.

I thought I read this somewhere already but... can someone state how spirit buffs(spirit spec) of str , con , dex, quickness effect the pet after the update?

dex: reduces melee dmg taken
con: reduces melee AND magical dmg taken
str: increases melee dmg
qui: increases swing speed, slightly decreases dmg per hit but overall increases dps
af: as for players
int: no effect

what's missing:
dex should increase casting speed, which doesn't work right now :)

thanks.. one last question.. does + spirit magic bonuses do more then just give more power back from converts?

yap...with 46+ something (not sure if i have +4 or +15 :P ) i get 50% mana from full amber simu..."normal" cabies don't even come close to this :)

Yeah just asking if it does any thing else other then more POW regain

the only effect i can think of is a slight increase in values of base buffs...i.e. the last str-buff will be a little weaker with 20 spirit compared to 41...but i'm not sure on that and i would only be little to no effect: if you rely on buffs, you'll have some spirit spec...if not you'll not care if the buff does +42 str or +47 or whatever...

spec spells are not influenced at all (cause there's no dmg-spells in spirit line) and other base spells don't exist (summon doesn't matter, buffs stated above, convert spirit stated before)
