the only problem left like menthioned before is the grouping issue

maybe its possible idea for next year to turn everyone who enters the zone into a luriceen maybe this could help against this realm groups =p when all look same^^

its realy a shame watching 4-5 hunting a solo in assist train and let one get always the db for the point only for the reward playing sry but this is heavy^^ this happens on both sides hibb and mid side too saw in the morning people getting with this tactic over 100 score in no time without nearly no deaths

It's impossible to make kills solo once people figured out the event. The only someone can effectively accumulate points is by stealing deathblows, assisting down players, or jumping them at Zone-Spawn.

When one engages another, the following usually happens. (In order of most likely to occur, with "A" being the highest probability)

A) They run to the nearest fire, then proceed to fight.
B) They play hopscotch to each fire.
C) They run and eventually /returnhome
D) They have a friend help them.
E) They sit
F) They actually fight

With the extremely high miss rate and since the ability to "Sprint" was removed, it became impossible to kill anyone. That is unless they were chased for 5minutes and cornered (while also being assisted). All they need is a headstart running away and they can hopscotch to each Campfire or /returnhome. Good thing the "Hastener" was removed, players found they weren't losing speed when Dealing/Receiving damage at times.

Solos just don't do enough damage vs each other if you are fighting players that keep jumping to fires.

IMO, "Sprinting" should be reenbaled and players should not be able to "Regen" while in combat. As well as other forms of Snowballs, such as a snare one, really long ranged one, and AoE one.

//OR//

Make Snowballz melt when you run to Fires xD

Ganta has obviously been cheating, and no I don't mean running around with a trio and them letting him get every single death blow. I logged and slept for 4 hours, and woke up and he had gotten over 100 kills. Obviously farming his brother's character. Check the logs and do justice...

We're a band of friends. If you aren't gonna try to stay up the entire event don't bother but to help the winners or try to deduct points from them. Don't sleep on the job next time, "Zwerg"meistar.

I can't beleive someone would think another could get away with blantently farming another. At the start we did have some fun when everyone was "Doing their own thing.". Once players figured out how to stay alive it became literally impossible to kill others solo, especially with all the groups running around.

Check the logs, that's all I have to say. Empirical evidence. Also check how long a player has been in the zone and check their death and scores. You Nayeh have been in the zone almost the ENTIRE time and YOU ARE NOT EVEN ON THE SCOREBOARD. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE AN OVERALL SCORE OF 7. Enough non-sense and check the evidence.

I have a score of "-5"ish. I'd be much, MUCH lower if I was deliberately granting players kills. Why would I bother trying to win when others are already at around 100 points?

Unfortunately is the event not really intresting for 90% of ppl ;) the mostly good strategy is to run with a team (2-8) where ppl shoot down targets to 10-20% and one finish him to get the most scores. Revards for quests are worthless, so its maybe some minutes fun but still the worsest event of the 3 that we as usual have per year ^^

Yesterday some members of my guild who never was on x-mas event joined it and go avay after 10 minutes. If someone join x-mas map he would permanently killed by a hib zerg and even after release and respawn somewhere you have no chance on snowball event or any guest cause you always get killed by some 2+ grps of players.

Maybe next year any of our dear GMs take some time to create something better, since events are very rare on Uthgard since years, and if we have just 3/Year would be nice if they would be good and usable for everyone, and not just waste of time or 10 min fun for newbies ;)

Yes Ganta is every time grouped and make only the deathblow, this is not funny. For me is the Chrismas Event a fail.

well the event was better when you could sprint to throw another snowball before the ppl could do /return home as you chase them endlessly
it gets boring pretty quickly once you understood the mechanic

i hoped to see a snowball event like in the beginning days where it was more like duels instead of this ;)

well i stopped at 2. day morning when i saw that there is no chance to get kills with solo play cause all was running in groups =P

so i decided not to waste any time on a event where you can get points only in teaming up with others and hunt solos whole day and night ;) i would prefer a luriceen race next time instead of this

Why the top price should at max be 500 Uthalis, and nothing else of value.

Design:
Code: Select all
i.   You are not able to grab new snowballs unless you have 15 or less in your

backpack. With the miss-rates it makes it hard to take down a target who uses

fireplaces. (Mainly an issue because of (iv).)

ii.   A fireplace only support one person engagements, if you team up in a duo, a

fireplace is not a safe heaven as it was designed to be, the duo can just fire through

and kill whoever is sitting on the fireplace. (Most notable users of this is Alme and

Samasugetzi.)

iii.   Only the person who gets the deathblow gets the point. This leads to groups who

abuse the behaviour of (ii) and (viii). (Most notable users of this is the trio with

Ganta. (Nayeh, and gray firbolg?))

iv.   The fireplaces are too close to each-other to support FFA. Making it harder for

lone engagements, and resulting in people going for (ii), (iii), and gangbangs.

v.   One snowball is used every time you click the hotkey for the pack of snowballs.

Something that means you can use 20 snowballs, if you jam the key, but only throw one

or two.

Bad decisions and bugs:
Code: Select all
vi.   Sprint worked in the beginning, but got disabled later, giving an advantage to

the people who had already taken advantage of it.

vii.   It took quite some time for every snowball spawn to be activated.

viii.   It was possible to zone in with Hastener speed, and there existed a Hastener

inside the zone. Something that made it possible to use an old bug where the person

with Hastener speed could throw snowballs at other people without losing their own

speed.

ix.   Snowballs require no second Line of Sight check to throw. This makes it hard to

avoid people who go for using (ii), (iii), and (viii).

x.   In combat timer trigger issues, allowing regen when you shouldn't, and not when

you should, a long with the use of /returnhome when in combat.

xi. In general too few actual participants to warrant a big reward.

Note.
Why is the halloween event getting more attention and work than the christmas/new year-event?

If you consider the fact that halloween is an american holiday, while christmas/new year is more of a global one, especially taking into account that this is a german/european based server!
