Hi everyone.
I am experimenting some troubles with daoc portal on mac. I use crossover (like wineskin) and I successfully installed DAoC. I can play on live servers, but I want to install daoc portal to play on uthgard. I manage to install it, it patches itself, but when I try to configure the Modmanager, it crashes... And I can t double click on the add on (like tajendi2.dmm), so they aren t installed yet. Do I have to set in this cross over bottle (vista) some others support execution programs? (like Netframework, alreay installed) Is someone playing on Mac, and could tell me how he does? (but no bootcamp / parallel desktop / etc...) Thanks for help! |

Framework .NET 4 si required.

My own version of Uthgard Character Builder |

But I don't manage to install .Net 3.5 or 4...
I saw on this forum that "Pouli" plays on iMac... (He doesn t answer me yet...) So I hope there is a solution ![]() Thanks for answer btw ! |

Prolly easier to run Windows with Bootcamp or even within a virtual machine (assuming you have a license for Windows ). Sounds like a huge hassle to run it emulated under OSX.

![]() Thx lasastard for advice. If I don t get it, I will run windows with bootcamp. |

you could also copy a daoc version with installed mods and try to log in with the dolloader+batch file

I initially had the same issue on Linux (specifically Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) and Wine. Basically, the way to solve it there was to install the actual redistributable versions of .NET (instead of the "built-in" versions Winetricks gets from its repositories). I'm not sure it applies to your Mac issue however.

Will do. I have considered that before, but I'd want the tutorial to incorporate everything from scratch (as in, clean install of Wine, no winetricks performed yet, everything with factory settings etc.), since I've been using Wine (and my particular settings) for years at this stage and lots of the Uthgard folks might never have worked with it before. Once I get a fair amount of time to start up again, I'll post step-by-step instructions in the Tutorial forum. |

So.... I try everything, but it didn t worked
![]() I begin to use parallel and it works. But it is not free... Thanks for all your advice and help. Too bad Framework .net 3.5 or 4.0 don t work with crossover. |
|
It is possible to get it working with Crossover, so do not give up on it.
(I can't remember how I got it working though, so I am of no real help there.) Remember that VirtualBox is a free alternative to parallel and fusion. QEMU might work, but never tried it with games before. It should also be possibe to wrap it using Wine afaik. |

i solved the problem installing .net framework 2.0 and an older version of daoc portal (yes i can't update but who cares as long as it works), i also did install .net 3.0 and 3.5 from crossover program list once i had the 2.0 working, dunno why but i wasn't able to install 3.5 directly, it kept spamming errors.
to install mods (tajendi, craft,...) i had to copy a daoc installation from my old windows computer, but i guess just copying the mod folder should be enought |

You do not really have to do it like that. A mod is simply a container of files and a script to replace the existing ones. Copy a clean (no mods) install folder of something like daoc 1.95 for Crossover. Now extract all the mods, and write your own script to replace the files if you want the mod installed. (If you are not able to extract them, log on to a windows version (virtualized if you prefer), and patch a mod using DAoC Portal. Pull up 'recently changed files' from your DAoC folder, and you have the base for your script to Crossover. You have the files, what they replace, and the old files they did replace.) There is no reason to have every mod installed, or copy several GB of data each time you want to play on a different freeshard where the mods do nothing but screw up your client. |
