I am on virgin too and have had the same problem like half year ago. There is a solution which works for me and my bro at the end of this post viewtopic.php?f=15&t=25048&start=45

Copied from that post:

Think me and my Brother have found the solution. Atleast it works for us.

Like a 3 weeks ago by accident my brother has noticed that when you hold like 30sec before pressing PLAY there where you choose which character you wanna play, we log in with no lag at all.

hope it will help for everyone as it is works for us.

Just remember choose your char which you wanna play and WAIT aprox 30 sec , DO NOT go PLAY stright away.

Let me know if that works for you.

Sounds irelevant tbh .. the way you log in has nothing to do with the lag.

Sup Motar-
I use Sky atm and (thanks to some tweaking from friends around this forum and cutting off stupid ****** seeders / torrenters....) it works relatively well. I have a constant ping to Google.com of about 10-18ms and about 15-30 to uthgard.net - I never drop random packets - ever(now).

However, every night around 0100 London time, Sky seems to reboot their services for a duration of about 7 minutes, and then it kicks right back on. That problem might be in my own house though, not sure - To lazy to find out atm.

Hope this helps.

BTW _ my Sky connection - unlimited. Not sure if that's because I"m a dirty American or it's part of the package.

BE is a pretty good DSL provider. Not had any problems connecting to Uthgard and I get 20-25 ms latency.
Only times there's been problems is if Uth's ISP is having weird routing issues, which would affect everyone.

BE is BeThere (https://www.bethere.co.uk/).

Edit: After 12 minutes of being nagged on IRC for "advertising", here's the edit:

I hereby distance myself from BeThere and their entire product range. I do not promote any of their products or services. The link to their site is provided for informational purposes only.

Happy now? :D Must be awesome splitting hairs.
