Berserker & Uthgard Questions

Thanks for stopping by! Let's get started
![]() Berserker questions: 1) Pros and Cons of Axe vs Sword? (I plan on a split spec with one of those + hammer as most people here do). 2) Are the growth rate numbers in game accurate? I'm only 17 right now so I can't even see them all in game yet. 2a) Which anytime do you prefer? Ravager chain, Snowblind, Doublefrost or something else? 3) Preferred back-style for DPS? Snowsquall or Conquer if using hammer and wanting a snare? Is there a large damage difference or would you always use Conquer when using a hammer? 4) Preferred side-style? Not many options and except for Axe they are fairly low in the weapon lines. 5) Weapon speeds? It's been a while, I think I recall that on live players typically go as slow as possible for both main and offhand. But I have a distant memory of a time where the normal was to use a slow main hand and a fast offhand. What's the case here on Uthgard where we don't have melee speed % etc. Uthgard Questions: 1) Do dragon drops have weapon procs? What about use abilities? 2) I read some old advice about picking up Tailoring to be able to salvage metal and thus make some money (I assume for the ol Seals -> Gear -> Salvage -> Hinges -> Vendor thing). What's your advice on the subject? How much money does it cost to do that crafting? (pretty broke being brand new, so this may have to wait). 3) So far the two positionals I have (side and back) both display a V as though they were front styles. Is this something I can fix myself or is it just a known issue of Uthgard? That's all I can think of for now. Thanks! Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

I'm not a Midgard player and have never played a zerker so I couldnt answer most of your questions. The one I will answer would be about the tailoring. The cost to get tailoring up to 1100 and get your metal and woodworking up to 1100 is actually very small and not to time consuming. It costs between 3.5-5p to get tailoring to 1100 and metal and woodworking up to 1100. You will want those up to 1100 so you can get the full amt of salvage out of items. Since metal and woodworking are not your primary skills in tailoring (cloth and leather are) then they must be at 1100.
The time it takes depends on whether or not you use crafting stones. I cant remember exactly, but I think it took me 18 hours total to get everything up to 1100. I had it written down, but I have since lost the paper with that written down on it, and I was using crafting stones from around the 400 skill level on up. This cuts crafting time in 1/2 but the stones cost between 500g and 1p a piece. |

1. You can get slower speed crafted mainhand axes, compared to swords. That is about it.
2. They are accurate in regards of how Uthgard handles things. 2a. In pve it doesn't matter to much, and it just depends on your current spec and weapons of choice. In RvR you use Snowblind and Doublefrost depending on how far away from the shaman you are, if you are getting hit, and if you have celerity or not. 3. It really depends on the situation. It is not just one style. In pve it is just spike, so you would want to use the Snowsquall chain. In RvR it is different. ie. You should NEVER use Icy Brilliance early on in a fight, because of the bleed component. A kiting target it is also often a lot more useful to perma-snare with Conquer, than to get the little bit extra damage from Snowsquall. If situation allows, you can start with Conquer, until Prevent Flight kicks in, then change to Snowsquall (No Icy Brilliance). 4. I only know of two who actually have done this, but the Frost Hammer chain is very useful. You can use it to ensure that the target get snared on the first hit (can be used to snare tanks when they just happen to be in your path toward your desired target, or to ensure snare on first hit if you believe your target will attempt to run), or you can use Demolish to mess up their MoC a bit. 5. The norm and the most ideal is to go for slow mainhand 4.1-4.2 spd, and fast offhand 2.9-2.6 spd. Some have a 4.0-4.2 spd offhand for when they get cele, but all of them are sloppy, and forgets to change back, so better to not think about it. U 3. It is the icons you have chosen to use in your UI. You can change this, by changing the icon files. The simplest is to use a Custom UI. |

Thanks for all those answers Liss!
Right now I am using the latest Bob's UI, but when I briefly looked at the icon bitmaps, none of the styles had the positional marks < > V on the images. I may have missed something though so I'll have to look again. Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

Yeah, most of the icons (spells, styles, RAs, even the inventory items) included with either of the Bob's UI editions are classic. Meaning no arrows, no colourful backgrounds etc., but at least you don't get tempted to look at wrong indicators on the new icons!

Start to up your craft immediatly, and get all of them to about your level x 20. Then you should be able to salvage all the drops you get, and either gain money from salvage, or use materials to up your craft. In order to be sure to have enough money (from loot), you can up a mage at the same time. A mage doesn't need stuff to xp, only a staff with focus (ask for a level 10 staff with focus 30 gem to a kind crafter), so all the money and loot that you get from mage will go to your main, who can salvage. I did this on Alb, Mid and now i start this on Hib where i have lvl 15 char with 350 in all skill craft. RIP : Ectoplasme

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I don't really get drops. I spent levels 9-14 in Nisse's and maybe got 10 items total. Since then I've been in DF and just gotten a few seals. But I have saved all my drops in case I wanted to salvage them later. My gear is a collection of green-grey items (except free chest), most of which have no stats at all so I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep going before I become too gimp to level ![]() Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

That's just the awesome drop rates on Uthgard at work.

Yah, they reduced the drop rates on all mobs recently to make them more livelike. I realise this makes it very difficult to get items when you are just starting out, but I can promise you that it will become easier once you get in your 20's. Even when I played before the nerf'd drop rate it was tough to get low level (1-19) gear. On almost all of my toons at that level I was missing a few pieces and running with alot of gray armor or other items. The good new's is that you level so quickly that it really shouldnt make that big of a difference as even with crappy armor and items you can still farm exp fairly easy at that level. It's when you start in you 20's that levels start taking a bit longer and really need some decent items. I know on Hibernia I didnt see alot of decent usable drops till I was in my 20's, and it took till my 30's to really start seeing a good amount of salvageable loot that is worth a decent amount.

Really? As far as I remember there was no change beside some bugspots (months ago) and these were not for level 1-20. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
Every bug gets fixed. Sooner or later. Most of the time at the beginning your characters will be in grey-blue armor until you can wear the DF Emerald Seal set because the droprate is terrible and you never get anything useful.

Noob! Maybe stop spread false informations if you have no idea. The only two reasons why ppl. like you run in grey armor is a: missing ROG system or b: you just have no clue where you have to look. Hint @ Nezix: Cursed Tomb (lv. 16-25) in Gotar, you can farm full sets of chain, cloth, lether and studded armor. All types of dropweapons with lv. 20 heat DD proc (Draugr Commander Axe for zerk in your case), Trapped Spirit Shackle bracer which fit to your level and much more. Sure, it takes a bit, but u'll be full equiped with yellow/orange Armor/weaps to go DF with 25-30. greetings ![]() |

I see you only listed one realm. What about Hibernia and Albion?

True, I guess I should say that I knew they changed the drop rates on some mobs, I thought it was all, but I havent leveled a low level toon on Hibernia in awhile. I just assumed it was the same all over. Guess I was wrong ![]() |
