Or did the RP-reward increase lead into a "why should we claim keeps if we give more rps to our enemys then"-thing? :|

Kind regards,

Thats why i think this would help:

Dun Scathaig: Hibernia=1k, Albion=4k, Midgard=4k
Dun Da Behnn: Hibernia=1k, Albion=3k, Midgard=3k
Dun na nGed: Hibernia=1k, Albion=3k, Midgard=3k

Dun Crimthainn: Hibernia=1k, Albion=2k, Midgard=2k
Dun Crauchon: Hibernia=3k, Albion=1k, Midgard=1k

This can increase the amount of claimed Keeps in the Frontiers!

Its really my hope this would help.

1. Guilds earn more rps

2. Just increasing Relic guards would only lead to claims, if the realm has relics - otherwise keeps will be unclaimed.

3. Guilds would get rps in return for paying bounty points

4. As nearer claim to enemy realm front more rps will be earned per hour==>more action

5. guild members maybe more motivated to earn bounty points for the guild

6. Gaining guild-rps through claim was also implemented in DAoC 1.69 - Classic if i remenber correctly

SO after 3 weeks !

Ppl seems tired to take/defend keep in prime time.

At one moment of the day, each realm take several keeps due to organised gp and a lead.

So what, it needs real gu/as with a rvr vocation/goals to organise and realise attack/defense every day/primetime !

I think its may happen on mid soon but dont know on alb/hib.
VINTERSORG on Mid = Durack/Morbac/Krakar/Thjork/Fripouille/Verole/Lumna
NoStressFr on Alb = Uclain/Tarras

I think it is ...interesting...that it seems to be no problem at all for people to build Taj groups and spend hours to farm items that at the end of the day collect dust; or raid the dragon daily, but getting organized to do some RvR seems to be too much of a challenge? Or not rewarding enough? I really want to know - because this is a serious problem for a server that wants to emulate a game that most and foremost is known for its PvP (RvR).

Maybe someone who regularily participates, maybe even organizes, PvE events can enlighten me why this is so much more appealing than RvR..? Is it the downtimes? Too difficult? Simply not enough fun (which I understand, keep raids are boring as hell..)?

I can imagine that PvE raiding is more easy as no one will disturb the raid and all Mobs/Bosses act in a scripted predictable way. RvR on the other side is unpredictable and requires a lot more skills to adapt properly to the situation which can change every second. Maybe some groups don't like that unpredictable outcome as they can fail?

hehe, you damn well know why people don't do it :)
Big difference between fighting scripted mobs, which you can manage as leader with a few macroed lines (AoE blast inc, spread out!, etc...).
And then to fight groups/zergs that thinks, and reacts to what you do, and targets your support, even though you taunt, and only use small heals :P

Anyway, some of the keep tasking groups evolve into 3+ groups, with no counter zergs, and simply take every keep on the map, and then logs :(
No idea how to improve on that.

I guessed as much, yes, but it would be nice if someone could objectively reflect on their motiviation and share the outcome.

And how to fix that? No clue either. I guess my only viable suggestion - mentioned elsewhere a while ago - would be to tie the relic gates to the keep status. All keeps gone = relic opens. That way there *should* be an incentive to claim and defend keeps. The guard system, which will probably come, is a good step in that direction, but probably not enough. Obviously, there are some potential issues with ninja-middle-of-the-night raids and so on, so a permanent guard complement would be necessary to make sure the relics are not taken by just 1 group. But it doesn't seem that such a system is under serious consideration, so.../shrug

But as it stands now, the keep reward system has unfortunately not created a more permanent motivation for people to go out and hit each other over the head. Especially since the BGs still do a much better job at that - for players that want something straight-forward and accessible.

Problem is ppl like you will log off because they cant have their 8v8, so yes build a zerg and what ? zerg solo ? you will tell omg they roam as zerg for kill solo, because on ur side you dont want to join the zerg for counter them

Aye, it is a problem that zerging suddenly has no down-side, because the larger your zerg gets, the more enemies logs out, which means fewer to defend and faster keep takes.
Basically, if your zerg gets big enough, you have PvE in the frontiers.

Again, I really like giving bonuses to taking keeps, as it surely has brought out more people to rvr, but there seems to be lacking an element that somehow doesn't create the domino effect which just makes the main zerg bigger and bigger, and the other realms to log out all but stealthers.

I'll have you know that we participated in most evening zergs over the past weeks, just because we refused to log out. Doesn't mean it's our preferred way of playing. Also, 'people like me' shouldn't matter on a server that peaks at 550-600 players at the moment. In fact, hibs and mids did just fine with their zergs during PT lately, but it still doesn't seem to translate into something more regular or premanent (not the mindless zerging, but RvR participation). Whcih means there is still a large part of the player base that doesn't do RvR.

At the moment it really is just escalation during PT RvR. If one realm starts zerging, for whatever reason (usually none), the other realm (not mentioning alb here, because they just cant get their ****** together apparently) builds a counter zerg and 1-2 rounds later one realm is outnumbed 2:1...whee ^^ We had that discussion elsewhere on these boards. Zerging is not the answer to increase RvR participation, because people always overdo it. I can only speak for hib, but if mids have 2 FG running sticked, some self-proclaimed zerg leader acts like its 3fgm and builds a 5 FG zerg. Makes no sense at all, if they want RvR that is (interesting fights, not just winning by numbers).

And albs don´t participate on Zerg in Emain....they do Keepzerging sometimes yes but not "Normal-RvR-Zerging"... its almost impossible to get the same amount of players like the other realms have into the RvR or the Zerg. As i say always theres missing a "leader". SO most time its a fight between Mids and Hibbs and no Albs out the only one who r out like Solos get rolled by the Zerg :D

I wont even talk about European time zones, but I've noticed good things on American prime time since the change. Yes, there are occasions where one of the realm's gets 2-3 fg's of people together to take all the keeps, but that is pretty rare. I have had several nights where a small smattering of Hibs defended a lvl 10 keep from 1-2 fg's of Mids and we were succesful. I agree with Lasa in almsot everything he says, but the facts are that during American time we had almost ZERO action and the only people out in the frontiers were only at keeps long enough to kill the gaurds then run on. Now with people having to take keeps it does make it viable to build a group to stop them.

This last Saturday night I was on my ranger. It had died down around 10:30pm (Central Standard Time- USA) and there was not much out at all. I decided to grab anyone 40+ that wanted to come along and take keeps. We ended up with about 2.5 fg's of players, which surprised me for that time of night. We went and took all the Mid keeps then went on to Alb. As we came up on one of the Alb keeps we ran into a small group (4-5) of Mids trying to take the keep. We killed them, but since they didnt have enough to compete with use they just went to Mid frontier and started taking the keeps we had just taken. So even with the "zerg" overrunning much smaller competition they were still able to go out and participate.

Long story short, we cant make players go out and do actual PvP. At least if they are out taking keeps it is still RvR with maybe either none or a small amount of PvP involved. Its better then what we had and I can say the population in the frontiers has looked better since this change, and any time there is more people in RvR its a good thing.

Do you see a difference in your realm 2 months since keep chgts ?

In thid you can see frequently 3realms fights with more than 2/3 fgs each, its again so rare in big boys pvp.

it seems, Albion and Hib always need gu/as built for pvp activities, mids still more numerous for that.

Hibs looks like a realm only when we try mana rks.

Well, Hibernia has the lowest population by a longshot. Mids with all 6 relics would just make RVR worse than it already is. 8)
