50 hammer is pointless both for solo and group. 50 BS is actually nice with the last heal chant, vs alot of enemies you can reg quite a bit of health if needed. 39/44 hammer are the viable options, lvl 50 hammer style brings you nothing, you're on a low damage table so you don't hit that hard with a skald regardless. Parry is your most important defense, you want it as high as possible and you want some aug parry.

And saturas is for sure not a skald to be taking into consideration when asking for tips. (Like daene seems to do) Realmrank means nothing, especially not on uthgard, you'll see in general that the highest realmranks are almost the worst at their respective classes.

And skald for sure isn't the best rupt bot xacrag. It can't compete vs a bd in terms of rupt.

first of all skald = hammer,

best all round spec is 44 bs 39 hammer rest parry, u can adjust ur spec slightly for grp or solo, i.e drop parry and add hammer, and u can do that also at higher rr for solo,

in grp ur DD's and spells are not used for dmg they are used for interupts, having lvl 44 spell highest will save u power for longer fights,

if u was thinking about going higher BS for solo u are only going to remove ur defence's for a small dmg increase in DD's, overall not worth it.

sword skalds are lol. big endu usage styles, no positional snare, and u need 50 sword for it to be even close to good.

unfortunatly mid hammer spec dominates, sword and axe are seriously crap in comparison.

I don´t agree to you pweet. A good Played Skald can permanently rupt 3 Targets when he isn´t CC´ed. Show me a Shaman or Paci who can do this, cause they have another functions in a Fight aswell.

Skalds job = only Rupt and maybe when MA calles it to assist.

But this is not the right Topic to discuss who must do what in a Mid-RvR Group or who can rupt better.

Back to the Topic ... i dislike Sword Skalds as i said!

i'd be inclined to agree with Skarz on this one.

Taking the bigger picture, speccing swords just doesn't add up.

No skald can reliably juggle 3 targets for perma rupt. This you can do with a bd easily. Not to mention any skald currently active is SOSATOGDOUBLEDDMEZZSNAREPROVOKE on the first thing they see, solo, smallman, 8v8, zerg.

Sword on skald is fail.

Play skald for several years all you want, but you are not reliably rupting 3 targets with 2x 15 sec reuse 700 range dd's, 30 sec reuse 700 range mezz, 30 sec reuse root immunity giving snare at 1500 range, and a dd charge every minute. Melee+spotrupting a second in close proximity sure, but 3 without zo, zephyr, astral/traitors ml10 belt, keep dreaming.

Skald is just a RA dump bot anyway, bad at low rr, good at high. Care to reveal your two known skalds? :)

Daene wrote:I speak notabout sword skill, i told few posts before i just prefer it casue for high offensive usability and nice looking :D

But 50 BS and high parry (as Raggnar prefer) is really not the best way, and thats not just my opinion, i talk with ppl who played skald longer and have higher RR ;) so they should know it.

Grp: 44 Hammer 46 BS rest parry
Solo: 50 hammer rest BS

This seems to be the best strategy for RR5+ allround skald.

But maybe we just missunderstund it, i talk about rr5+ allrounder not about low rr grp rupter.

Ok man, my skald is Valfarr. I am not really high RR, but most of my kills are solo-duo kills and I won fights against people that are few realm ranks higher than me and also lost to those lower than me..I am average skald at best but I am not an idiot and when I say something back it up with facts, unlike you who says: "I've talked to some high RR skalds". As I said earlier, there are not many active high RR skalds that play prime time and are known to fight known high RR soloers from other realms...from ones who are active, none are sword spec.

Also, guy who suggested solo spec without parry is brainless and has obviously gained his RR's by adding/tasking. I argumented very well why hammer is superior on Midgard compared to other weapon lines. Are you really brainless or what? "This seems like the best strategy for rr5+ all around skald" - Solo spec with no parry in it and useless 50 hammer? Soloing without parry and at least mastery of parrying 3 will get you killed very fast against most classes. Hammer-sword damage difference is minor, cause damage tables depend on class more than on weapon type, and growth rates of anytime styles are similar. You have your skald for 3.5 years and you are not even RR6, nobody has ever seen you solo at AMG or anywhere. Sword is horrible even in group, because dmg difference from hammer is not huge or epic, but endo drain sucks and you don't have a positional snare like hammer does.

As for solo, you need to kite tanks and for that you need endo, your spells drain endo as well so every bit counts. Your smart friend suggested 0 parry in spec for solo and sword spec...nice haha, so you will run out of endo after 4 styles and few DD's and you will have to fight in melee with no parry...friars or any kind of dual wielder will instantly destroy you, tanks as well. I am not saying a good spec can replace skill, but one of the imbalances in this game is that on Midgard hammer is simply far superior to any other weapon line...you don't even need to spec high to get great positional styles and after parry/block stun styles with a low endo drain anytime and hammer has bonus dmg against most classes that you can't really kite like friar or ranger(friar can run away and heal, and ranger can get you with bow or just run and stealth, since your only long range rupt is snare). Man seriously, do a few solo runs instead of tasking and keep taking, then say from your experience how sword is great and how 0 parry is good for solo...50 hammer on skald, I want some of the stuff that guy was drinking.

Also, please acquire basic reading skills before going into a discussion. I never suggested 50 BS is a good spec, I specifically said that only useful thing you get is purple heal song and last DD which is not that good, and you claim I said 50 BS is best spec. Ironically, 50 BS is still better than 50 hammer and no parry which your friend suggests...

The warm intimacies of small, kindly things, the sentiments and delicious trivialities that make up so much of civilized men's lives were meaningless to him. A wolf was no less a wolf because a whim of chance caused him to run with the watch-dogs. Bloodshed and violence and savagery were the natural elements of the life Conan knew; he could not, and would never, understand the little things that are so dear to civilized men and women."
