i m a bit confused on theses two class', i would like to try an hybrid tank and i wonder what is the best one.
let's say both are rrk5, what is the best for solo pvp or small man? what are their pros and cons ty |
|
thane is a very strong allrounder and has the chance to kill multiple targets in very short time due to woc and his rr5
champ is a very strong 1on1 char due to heavy debuffs and iwin rr5 all in all they are both very equal solo chars but not very welcome in grps because they lack of det+stoic, especialy thanes got a very bad reputation, but can be very decent if well played..... in the end you have to decide if you want to get farmed on horseroute to emain or have a comfortable port ![]() |

Champ > Thane
Because there's too much mid ![]() RIP : Ectoplasme

both have woc, both can have slam, thane got castable DD's but can be rupted by a champ. in other hand, would you say thane RRk ability is weaker than champ's one? how hard strikes chain lightning?
and yes, thanes seems to have bad reputation ![]() |

Well, if u only have plans for solo/smallmen, both have their pros and cons. But i think at the end its the same.
With Thane u got the option to have fun in great Zergs seeing your hammers falling down the enemy lines. Uth1: Tuennes HO Merc 8Lx <Nightwatch>, Frendir Dwarf Zerker 6Lx <Svalbard Ravens>

thanes are great petclearer^^
champ rr5 lasts 20 sec thats about 5 hits with 2h with hmm lets say 400-500 dmg? thats about 2k dmg, but you may do not land every hit. thane rr5 does about 1,1k dmg, only works fine with 2 enemys otherwise the dmg spreads to too much targets. |
|
as far as i know, thane rr5 is bugged somehow

If u dont want walk 30 min before come amgmake a thane ^^
if u dont want pay 3000 platine for make a sc, make a champ ^^ |
|
Totaly agree. |
|
why Thane SC is so expensive than others?
i don't care coming all across emain, i ll run small man. anyway, thx for advices, i still need to think about it. |

If you want to cap all
Meele Skill Parry Shield Stormcalling Str / Const / Dex / Piet / Qui / TP |
|
indeed, i understand, do you think cap intel is important for champion as it is with piety as thane?
|
|
Thane need more mana than champion in combat.
|
|
if u run small men, do a warrior instead. thane is a pure solo char. same goes for champ.

The bad reputation Thanes have is only 50% justified, the class attracts people who find pure melee boring but prefer melee to casting, so they can be over-zealous with the use of giant AoE hammers that break CC
![]() Thanes make good defence tanks as they can add to the assist without moving away from a support character and castable DDs are excellent for putting dps out against high melee defence classes and interupt casters. Another benefit is being able to still contribute DPS or interuption whilst rooted/snared. The downside is that, despite being a shield/caster type, they get no bonus dexterity from leveling up, so your base dex at level 1 will be what it is at level 50 (this effects block, parry and casting speeds), this paired with the relatively low dexterity that Midgard races have can be an issue. Champions lack castable DDs which means they need to be much more mobile and are much more vulnerable to roots and snares, but this is made up for by the strong debuffs they get. Champs have the opposite problem to Thanes, they have no castable DDs but get bonus dexterity every few levels and have access to some very high dexterity races and weapons types that rely partly on dexterity. For small groups, I'd rather be a Champion as they can greatly weaken an enemy whilst maintaining a good defence of their own and utilize all of their skills at once, rather than choosing to either cast or melee. |
