How fast does a Merc level?

I was thinking of starting a Merc, How fast do they level solo? Is there alot of downtime? If so what can be done to minimize it? I will not be playing with anyone normally because of the weird times I play.

Crush spec, good stuff, and there will be almost no downtime.

So are you mostly using crush styles or DW? Do you go full DW and rest in crush?

Leveled my Merc with Crush and DW kept on level. Used Crushtaunt because of its low enducost so less downtime. Used reactionstyles from DW. Worked good. Had a Paladin as Duopartner most of the time but the endusong was not really necessary.
