I'm not sure to understand exactly due to my lackof english. It's like the NF teleport system ? (without tower)

Yes similar. Currently no chain required only claimed keep.

Then you rush through a dungeon with your stop watch running and in the end the best part is you wont see your grp mates ever again...

Or you go play live daoc get an more or less instant invite for some zerg action and get an instant grp disband after first wipe.

Then I rather play Uthgard RvR where it takes some time to form a grp and run this grp for 3h. Or I just don't log in, but both options are a lot better than instant invites like on Ywain or in WoW or where ever.

Look, you're exaggerating about this. All of you who talk like this.

Imagine being a newer Uthgardian. Sitting at DL for 2 hours shouting LFG RvR with class x,y, (already rerolled once) not getting any invite whatsoever. Then proceeding to contact players individually for 30 minutes until you've had them all, dismissing you for not having the right spec, RR, guild or skill reputation. As a last resort you try and team up with your only real friend ingame, who's only lvl 46. After convincing him to come with you and leave his XP or Thid grp (abandon his character progression for so called fun) and you go out using secondary speed. Thank god you even have casted speed at your disposal. Of course, Emain is no go since you're dead meat without speed 6 as a smallman. So you head to Odins. You roam around, find absolutely nothing. Go stand in front of APK (as a Hib for instance) and wait for inc. After 20 minutes of waiting, a minstrel appears, and SoSes right through you (he's guard tasking, can't be bothered to try and fight a 2 v 1). After another 20 minutes you get fed up and reroll with your friend recalling the fun u had in BGs, where there was actually some reasonable action to be found for just the two of them, without having to bother with maximising their every aspect just to get an invite to a larger grp.

This isn't hardcore, this isn't oldschool. This is just horrible. It's a waste of time, it's demotivating, it's frustrating. ******, it's worse than tetris. You get more accomplishment out of anything in the world than this!

CHANGING THE SETTING TO ONE THAT ALLOWS FOR PLAYERS LIKE THESE (WHO WILL STILL MOSTLY GET IGNORED BY THE FGs) TO BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY HAVE A GOOD TIME SOMEWHERE IN THE FRONTIERS, TO BE ABLE TO PRACTICE AND PROGRESS UNTIL THEY ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO COMPETE WITH THE POPULATION WE CURRENTLY SEE IN EMAIN.

IS DIFFERENT FROM

MAGICALLY SUMMONING 3000 PLAYERS YOU DON'T KNOW OR WANT TO KNOW THAT WILL INVITE WHOEVER WHENEVER INTO THEIR GROUP WITHOUT EVEN ASKING FOR IT WHO WILL BE ONLINE 24/7 TO GRANT YOU YOUR INSTANT RPS WHICH YOU GET FOR JUST BEING ONLINE.
(which is apparently what your generalising the attempt to fix this madness with)

These players DO NOT CARE about fitting in with the Emain population as soon as they hit 50. They ARE NOT fixed on 8v8. They just want to enjoy RvR. At any level, including level 50. But they want to do so in a place where they are not forced to spec line x or y, where they have to cap every stat on their template, where they have to prove themselves for weeks to others before fitting in. They just want to RvR the way THEY like to RvR and NOT be forced to do so only at levels 30-49.

Currently there is only ONE way of satisfactionary RvRing as a visible class. Climb the social ladder, the skill ladder, the optimisation ladder and finally fit in the 8v8 community. No wonder so many people, who's playstyle is NOT 8v8, get turned off by our current setting. There just is no alternative way of enjoying RvR for level 50s!

Not only do you guys think it's evident that this is the only way, you guys boast about how well you guys did this (when you were an 8v8 player in the first place!). You go around claiming everyone should just be as motivated as you (be an 8v8 player), waste as much time trying to live up to the standards, waste as much time standing around the border keeps.

Basically, you're BLAMING casual players for wanting to play the way they want to play.

Well F|_|CK YOU. You have no ability to try and put yourself in their position, or don't want to have it. You don't even care the slightest about players that do not enjoy RvR the way you do, so don't frickin try to badmouth attempts to try help them!

Good idea, I agree this would be a better solution.

Blue wrote:Sorry but thats not balanced then and there wouldn't be a real conflict and you fall back to AMG "RvR". A strong incentive may be if Albion or Midgard could port to these keeps. But I'm not sure this would be a real good idea.

Well, the thing is, beside DF control, there just isn't real conflict, no real reason to take a keep in the first place. Whether or not there is a portal keep or not doesn't change that much.

I don't see this as an argument against portal keeps, but rather an argument to increase significance of keeps in general. Maybe small bonusses such as an XP/gold increase in the particular zone if you take a keep in enemy lands could work. I don't think this is a new idea tho, but I don't believe it's implemented on Uthgard yet?

Well, no one said that u have to play the way we play. Just play the way u want to play. Its up to u. If u loose vs 8man get 16 (or even more) to fight them.

And to be honest, why all this hate?

I don't know, I just got fed up.

Basicly, people did say you have to play the way they play or "go play WoW".

But that's not the point. The point is you CAN NOT play end RvR casually and have a good time doing it. It's impossible to enjoy doing so longterm. Sure you can have a few lucky nights. But in general, you're wasting your time.

The only way to currently enjoy such a playstyle are the BGs. I've said this...

It's easy for you to say "just play the way u want to play, it's up to you", while in fact you're telling them to do the impossible.

I'm not saying these players will suddenly kill everyone in a different setting, they will still mostly have a hard time, but they should be able to at least find opponents they can possibly kill if they play right. Instead of no opponents or none that they stand a chance against.

Dying against opponents that you COULD win against is what makes you improve, makes you think about the reasons you lost. But most of all, it makes you want to go out again to try and kill them this time.

Not standing a chance or not finding enemies will just leave u demotivated and frustrated.

It is possible to play casually at off peak hours in emain, and if you had more fun playing in bgs than in emain, why don't you go there ?
Casual players form odins/hw grps, raid keeps, wait for inc, or go to df if they don't find it, i see lots of random grps that can't compete in emain doing this way, there is nothing wrong about it. But if you want to be competitive at prime time in emain, you have to work for it, that's how easy it is.
Idk what the hell do you expect, winning emain at primetime with a pug of people you have never seen before ? Tell me, in which competitive game can you keep up with the top tier by playing casually ? keep dreaming ffs

Valid point though. There should be different locations with different player types involved. If you go to emain with a pug in prime time you shouldn't expect a wonder to be happen. But I think Zarkor knows this. Like kids playing on a highway is not a good idea.

I would like to play the way i want to play, but it is not possible on uthgard anymore.

This is the problem. Because casual RvR should be possible in end RvR, especially at prime time. BGs should not be allowed to be a substitute for end RvR because certain playstyles are not viable in endgame. It's just wrong and it's driving people away. Or better, driving them to the only place that still allows for these playstyles: the BGs.

This is also why I have always hammered the fact that you can not lower the BGs without fixing casual endRvR. You would only be hurting this playstyle even more.

On the other hand if you DO fix it, the need for a substitute will disappear and so will the players' need to stay in the BGs to play the game they want to. They can finally be at ease with the fact that they can enter end RvR because it does not require them to sacrifice their playstyle. Hence, lowering BGs in this case is legitimate.
Nef Melody wrote:Casual players form odins/hw grps, raid keeps, wait for inc, or go to df if they don't find it, i see lots of random grps that can't compete in emain doing this way, there is nothing wrong about it. The catch here is that even if you want to casually RvR, you have to work for it every time you decide you want to enjoy yourself in RvR. This is absurd. The core principle of casual RvR is that it is not based upon hard work, but going out and enjoying yourself with the available resources.

Uthgard's setting currently doesn't allow you to casually enjoy RvR. It forces you to work in the sense that you either have to waste hours of waiting for / searching for / creating inc by reverting to measures such as taking DF. This is a lot less than what it takes to be competitive, but this is still work, work that should not be necessary to enjoy your time in end RvR. You already leveled, geared and skilled yourself reasonably, but still you are forced to spend at least an hour running around, fighting NPCs just to have a chance of finding the RvR you like. How can this ever make sense to someone who has only 2 or 3 hours to play? Not to mention, you need at least 30 minutes to find enough players who are willing to do what you are just to get some 'casual' action because smallman action is even worse.

Nef Melody wrote:Idk what the hell do you expect, winning emain at primetime with a pug of people you have never seen before ? Tell me, in which competitive game can you keep up with the top tier by playing casually ? keep dreaming ffs

I never said casual players should be able to compete in Emain, I'm not retarded... 8O I actually specificly said that casual players do not want to compete in Emain. They want to enjoy themselves in a whole different league. A league that is currently inexistant.
