So, I'm on holiday in Croatia and was just screwing around on my phone and came across this. Amazing. I played DAoC from the US release (UK player though, just couldnt wait) on Pellinor up until ToA when it sucked.

I always played Mid, never tried Alb and only briefly a Hib. Zerker, SB and a Skald.

Everything I've read about this sounds great, even if I've only read for a few minutes. A couple of questions first if I may?

I don't really enjoy the grind, will it be vaguely easy to find a guild/PUGs to level with? I also only speak English, problem? Predominantly German?

Are the battlegrounds active? I loved them dearly.

Any particular class lacking? I'll basically roll anything. Maybe fancy a healer.

Obviously gear is important, do people raid vaguely often? I mean once or twice a week for stuff?

I actually looking forward to getting home from holiday now. Please let the answers be positive.

It will be easy to find groups and grinding isn't that bad. I leveled a SB to 50 on Midgard and I had to grind at some points but it's not bad at all as there are plenty of bonuses to xp such as certain area's, camp bonus, and than RvR bonus that ties into the PvE side as well.

Also I'm English only so leveling on Midgard wasn't difficult at all. I guess the language would be 50/50 English/Other Languages. There are times you'll see languages you won't understand but most speak English as well so if you speak in english or ask a question in english they will respond in english no problem.

Battlegrounds are active but different here at Uthgard. We have 3 battlegrounds which go as follows:
Braemar: 20-35 lvls (RR Cap is 2L2)
Wilton: 36-43 lvls (RR Cap is 3L2)
Thidranki: 44-49 lvls (RR Cap is 4L2)

All are active at times and even if they're dead there are still soloer's duo's in them generally stealth but even so if you come out and play others in other realms will log their alts to get in on the action as RvR provides nice PvE Experience for player kills too at times. So if you bang on the Central Keep, you will bring out the activity.

Class lacking, I'm not very sure as I'm not a prodominate full group emain guy in midgard hopefully someone else can fill you in there but ultimately all I'll say is play what will keep you around on Uthgard and don't let others dictate for you as that will only make you dislike the community. Enjoy Uthgard for what it is which is a free DAoC Server with a strong community.

As for raids, they do raid regularly. You won't have any problems getting your temp together even a decent cheap one to hold you over until you're comfortable going all out on crazy stuff.

Well that all just sounds fantastic. Really does.

I'm thinking PAC Healer.

Now to find a newbie guild I guess. I never really leveled many alts so I think that I've forgotten everything about PVE. As soon as SI came out I did a couple of quests for some gear and that was the last of it, literally. Maybe I'll remember once the game is running in front of me.

Are Thanes still super gimpy in Uthgard?

They aren't super gimpy, but they've hard times getting grps as other classes fit the needed roles better. Still a viable solo class

Welcome to the server.

Sound like me a few months ago, right down to the never played anything but Mid bit.

I ended up in alb and its been a blast. You can play all 3 realms here, just have to make a different account for each one and don't crossrealm... (seems like people do anyhow, but that is beside the point)

anyhow, welcome to Uthgard!

So, I've rolled and it's great so far. Just like old times!

Got a level 5 healer (Brynngar) and rolled a skald and rm just in case it all goes wrong.

Have to say, no one wanted to group yet, of those other low levels around Mularn but I have high hopes for the next few days.

If anyone knows of a guild or anything that might help, I'd be forever grateful!
