Below is my list of the best sniper spec ranged stealthers both chars and builds:
#1: Ranger is imo the best sniper class to be because they have access to the same speed bow's as Scouts but as a Lurikeen you have high dex AND Dex/Qui buff as well as Dmg Add.
#2: Scout as long as he has a high end d/q buff from an item and a dex barrel. He can open up w/ nasty dmg and when the person gets close slam, move away and restart.
#3: Hunter is the lowest for sniper spec only because they have the fastest bow speeds alltho they do have the d/q buff to help make up some of the lost dmg. I think the hunter is a better overall class then the scout, but as far as sniper spec scout is better.
Characters Sniper Spec:
Ranger- Littleluc and Tzaaaa Scout- Dioz and Bistravoda Huner- Madinna or Seyha alltho neither is really a "sniper" spec

Class info (sortoff hybrids) - Code: Select all
# Ranger 80 start dex max 5.7 bow evade III autotrain dual-wield 64 value af, 9.4 dmg add, 195% speed, +90 d/q r5, 5 sec stun, with 300 value damage rapid I, volley I {48 pathfinding, 35 bow, 18 celtic dual, 25 pierce} stuns: - 4 sec direct from side - 5 sec direct of evade bleeds: - 30 sec (5)second from behind - 20 sec (3)direct of evade - 20 sec (3)direct from behind snares: - 12 sec 100% direct from behind - 15 sec 100% direct from side
# Scout 80 start dex max 5.7 bow evade III autotrain 1h weapon + shield r5, 10 sec root rapid II, volley III {45 bow, 42 shield, 29 thrust} stuns: - 9 sec anytime - 6 sec direct of block bleeds: - 35 sec (6)direct from behind - 30 sec (5)direct of target blocked - 25 sec (4)second of anytime - 20 sec (4)anytime snares: - 12 sec 100% off block
# Hunter 70 start dex max 5.3 bow evade II 2h weapon 52 value af, 195% speed, +93 d/q instant cast pet rapid I, volley I r5, 20 sec pbae 50% snare, 350 radius {50 beastcraft, 35 bow, 29 spear} stuns: none bleeds: - 40 sec (7)third of anytime - 30 sec (4)second of anytime - 20 sec (3)direct of evade snares: - 14 sec 100% second of anytime
Just looking at that it should be rather obvious the order. As a sniper imo the important things are damage, backup close combat damage/survivability, escapability and preventing pray from escaping. For this stuns, snare, bleed and damage oriented buffs are good. Damage:- Code: Select all
#1 - Ranger: Access to the highest base dex, slowest bow and longest range. They also get self d/q at 48 path for +90 extra dex. To top it all they get self dmg add (that can add an extra 70 dmg to a crit shot, more if you exploit the bug and dual-stack dmg adds, then it is 100+).
#2 - Scout: Access to the highest base dex, slowest bow and longest range. No self buffs, so have to survive with charged d/q for +63 extra dex. They are also able to spec higher in bow without to much sacrifice.
#3 - Hunter: Have access to the lowest base dex, quickest bow and shortest range of all the archers. They do get self d/q at 50 beastcraft for +93 extra dex. (This is however +3 more dex then ranger, for 99 points, on the only archer that doesn't autotrain anything.) Is the only archer that get a pet, but currently it does not do any damage, and is only useful for interrupting (something that have it perks in some situations).
(Mythics logic. Lets give hunter a quick bow, and say it is an advantage, later we will introduce rapid fire and leave them in the dirt! FU !!!) Close combat damage:- Code: Select all
#1 - Ranger: The only archer to have access to dual wield (/wave Uthgard), and have direct stuns to spike damage. Their r5 does damage. So it is very common to use it to get the last 300 hits of their target. Alternatively hit r5, then use a high delve dot charge to get the remaining hits.
#2 - Hunter: Spear have access to different damage types, and can deal some damage if it hits (/wave Uthgard). However it have a very slow swingspeed, so dps wise a scout might do better. (Sadly a mainhand hit from a ranger hitting at almost 2x the speed can often deal the same damage as one high gr style from a 5.5 spd spear.) It is the only archer who have no access to any stun as a sniper.
#2.5 - Scout: Have access to anytime stun, something that make them able to use it, and switch to bow to spike.
Close combat survivability:- Code: Select all
#1 - Scout: Physical Defense, Evade III. Onlyone with access to shield.
#2 - Ranger: Physical Defense, Evade III. Have access to the highest delve(64) self af buff, something that is important with the custom nerf on charged af buffs (even if they were not nerfed this buff would top that charge).
#3 - Hunter: Physical Defense. Only archer with just Evade II. Have access to a value 52 self af buff, more then scout (charge, and because of custom), but still lower then ranger.
Escapability:- Code: Select all
#1 - Ranger: Can potentially use in-combat snares and stuns to buy range, then use self speed to get away. Their r5 is insanely good for this, they stun the target, even does some damage, then get some range, and use self speed boost to get away.
#2 - Scout: Can potentially use in-combat snares and stuns to buy range, then attempt to run for it. Their r5 is not as good as a rangers since it only roots the target. But those 10 seconds should be enough to escape, even without the speed boost the ranger possesses.
#3 - Hunter: Can potentially use in-combat snare to buy range, then use self speed to get away. Sadly their r5 only have a potential versus multiple targets, or people running toward you with speed up (be it ranger, or other speed), because when they get hit their speed breaks, leaving you with the option to hit your speed boost and get away.
The r5 have several drawbacks though: i. It is 50% delve, and does not stack, so a melee style snare is better. ii. The duration is effected by resists. iii. A ranger using speed boost will catch a hunter, even with r5 on them, because of the delve values. iv. Unlike ranger r5 (possibly a bug!), it can not stop sos.
Preventing pray from escaping- Code: Select all
#1 - Ranger: Direct stun, and snare styles prevents them from running or charging away. Direct bleed prevents them from stealthing, getting speed and using First Aid. Self speed boost makes it possible to catch them quick.
#2 - Hunter: Because of their short bow range, this is an issue more so then for the other two archers. Self speed boost makes it possible to catch them quick. No bleed makes it hard to stop stealthers from escaping, and preventing people form using First Aid. The r5 can be used if you are not stunned (something that is normally the opening of an escape tactic). Their pet finally have some use, it can prevent stealthers from restealthing, and people from regaining speed.
#3 - Scout: The r5 can be used effectively here, but you can't attack, something that might make them able to use First Aid etc.
To sum it up: #1 = Ranger #2 = Scout #3 = Jimmythepost #4 = Hunter

Not a bad sum up Fjott. I will say there was at least one factoid wrong in there though. Rangers RR5 will not stop SoS and will not work if they have charge up. Also, I was under the impression that all archers classes on Uthgard had the same range w/ their bows. On live they did have the shortest range and the fastest bows, but here I thought we all had the same range?
On live:
Scouts have slowest bow (5.7) and longest range w/ bow. Rangers have 2nd slowest bow (5.5) and 2nd longest range. Hunters have the fastest bow (5.3 or 5.2?) and 3rd longest range.
On Uthgard
Scouts and Rangers both have access to 5.7 spd bows. Hunters 5.3 or 5.2 is slowest bow. I thought all had same range.

Been a while since I played scout and ranger, so I am not 101% sure about the range I am afraid (not just checking delve). I never mentioned charge, but the sos-thing is not incorrect...

in allakhazam is written that the stats of basalt/brimstone bows are like following:
HIB: Basalt Bow of Bedlam (ALA) Dmg: 16.50 Dly: 5.40 Bonus: 35% Dexterity: 25 Cold Resist: 5% Matter Resist: 7% ALL Archery Skills: 2 Basalt Bow of Bedlam (UTH) Dmg: 16.50 Dly: 5.70 Bonus: 35% Dexterity: 19 Cold Resist: 6% Matter Resist: 6% ALL Archery Skills: 3 19 Quickness
Brimstone Longbow of Anarchy (ALA) Dmg: 16.50 Dly: 5.40 Bonus: 35% Dexterity: 27 Body Resist: 6% Heat Resist: 6% ALL Archery Skills: 2 Brimstone Longbow of Anarchy (UTH) Dmg: 16.50 Dly: 5.70 Bonus: 35% Dexterity: 18 Body Resist: 6% Heat Resist: 6% ALL Archery Skills: 2 18 Quickness
my question is why our devs picked up custum-stats ? The delay of 5.7 on Uthgard would be a bug. Also Basalt and Brimstone items came late into the game and were only implemented to make DF a bit more attractive but got some procs/charges removed.

sethor said in the other topic, that they introduced the DF-weapons with the same background (alb slowest, than hib and midgard fastest) but they made a misstake and gave hib same slow bow than alb (or forgot to gave the imba hunter also the same slow bow)
