Hey there! Ive played DOAC for quite a while but now it has been years since I last played. I'm really glad I found the Uthgard server while I was searching for some guides online, considering to resubcribe to Dark Age of Camelot. I'd still classify myself as a newbie, mostly because I never really got to do too much RvR when I had a lvl 50 Paladin and a lvl 50 Scout. Now I really want to play Midgard, and Ive been looking one the Midgard classes for quite a while and tried to find some guides. Currently I am considering following;
1) Warrior 2)Healer 3)Skald 4) Warlock As I got little to no RvR experince, I'd really like to hear input from more experinced players as far as these four classes go. I'd prefer to play the Norseman race, ive never been fond of the others really, heard that they were pretty balanced nonetheless. |

There is no warlocks here.
Only classic + SI classes ![]() |

Yea I made a Warrior and ran about a little. Guess I should have read more up on what Classic was in Uthgard. Different from Classic on the official servers.

Welcome to Uthgard! Please remember to read the rules at www.uthgard.net/en/rules. It is never allowed under any circumstance to dual log here. Violations of this can result in a temporary or permanent ban.

Welcome to the team
![]() OK, trying to be more helpful: Warrior: Not sure how log ago you last played DAoC; for me it was about 8 years. I had a 50 warrior and he seemed to be useless, as I felt most meele classes were. However on Uthgard they seem to be a lot more viable. I like warriors becuase they are more defensive, rather than damage dealing, which I think makes them more fun to play (that said my warrior is only lvl 14). I know you said you don't like Trolls but a troll will hand out lots more damage and the low dex does not seem to be a disadvantage on the block rate on Uthgard. That said it is nice when not everyone follows the herd. Healer: Often requested for groups. You just need to decide if you are going to be a Pac(ification) or Aug(mentation) healer. Having tried low levels out of both these I prefer the Pac healer for the crowd control but Mid being a meele realm means that groups are often looking for Aug Healer. Having a Pac healer RvR makes a big difference from my limited experience in the battlegrounds. Skald: Currently my highest character (lvl 42). Has been a hoot in the battlegrounds. The speed is nice for exploring and I get to team up with a mate running a Sham which makes a great duo team. A lot depends on what type of character you want to play. If you want a DPS then I would might think about a Leftaxe Zerker as groups often seem to be looking for DPS. A bit slow to start but once they hit lvl 14 they really seem to hand out the damage. Whatever you decide I hope you have fun. I have briefly played all the realms but the only one I really get on with is Mid. |

Much more helpfull, thanks a lot! I only played Albion long ago, so im a noob as far as Midgard goes. I think I might settle for a Warrior and go Axe/shield and then have an Aug healer as an alt

you are probably better off going hammer for a warrior because it has reduced endurance costs on most styles and they have a rear snare that stops the enemy from running away from you.
If you duo with a Shaman a lot then the endu cost issue is rather moot but the snare style is still valid as most will try to take on your sham first. saying that i have a sword troll and duo with a sham and i don't have much trouble. |

Warriors are good, but a little on the expensive side for a decent template at 50. You want to build a template with capped stats/resists/specs with 1h + shield, and most opt to drop out dex/some quickness/some resists for when they switch to 2h.
In the end, choose the race that you want to make, because it all pretty much evens out at 50. Troll does indeed hit hard though with the extra strength. Dwarf gets more con and body resist, and it also seems like more people choose dwarf when they make a Healer.(a dwarf warrior with a small shield can easily get confused for a healer, but there are norse and frostalf healers also so again race doesnt matter.) Also keep in mind that warriors auto train in all 3 of their spec lines, so I would spec whichever weapon you don't think you'll ever spec at 50. (Hammer gets a nice backstyle snare, and Sword gets ragnarok, nice side and nice anytime style, and axe gets a nice 2 chain frontal style at 50, also axe is usually the spec that people choose to junk while leveling.) Determination (decreases casted CC times and stacks with stoicism) 4/5 warriors are usually what I see being requested for rvr. After that i think its mastery of Blocking Healers are needed in every group, and are cheap to template to boot. Aug gets base haste, celerity(castable haste that stacks with base haste), resist buffs, str/con buff for yourself. Pac gets all the crowd control (insta single/aoe stun/mezz, castable single root/mezz/aoe mezz), and Power Regen. As was said above, every group needs a good pac healer. But those same groups are usually backed up by an aug healer also. Don't forget about tri spec healers either, they get decent CC, heals, and celerity. (I think the spec is 31mend, 26aug, 35pac, but you will want to double check if you decide to go tri-spec.) RA wise, MCL and Serenity are good while you level. They have use in RvR but i think Divine Intervention is better. It gives you basically a 3rd insta heal for your group (not yourself, and it heals the group from top to bottom in the group window, so put whoever will need heals the most towards the top otherwise someone else might get hit and take up the healing.) After that purge is needed, because if you get mezzed as a healer all you can do is watch your group die. Perfect Recovery is nice as well. (instant rezz with no rezz sick for target) Skald is good for group or solo if you like, but can be VERY expensive to template. Skalds use 2h mostly, making it hard to build a nice template without needing some of the higher end drops. Skalds are very fun to play and do great in about any kind of solo/2+ group setup. Speed of Sound is their #1 group or solo RA. Itll get you or your group out of a jam quickly. Next I would say purge 2 or 3. While leveling there will always be days/nights that you cannot find a group for the life of you. Having an alt is a good idea for these times. Warriors level slow solo. aug healers can consistently pull mobs at an almost decent rate. Skalds i think solo the fastest out of the 3, twist dmg add and health song, or if you can find someone to give you dmg add, just play heal song and youll be able to pull pretty fast. As for grouping all will get groups easily. Aughealers are better for leveling i think, but a pac healer teamed up with a summon SM can outlevel just about anything. At 50 I recommend getting a nice SC template for whatever you play. Warriors are gear based. Period. To tank boss mobs you will need a SC suit, and RvR is much more enjoyable with one as well. Without a SC template you will just make it harder on the healers, which will already have a tough enough time. Healers need it for when the tank train jumps on them. Skalds can kite ok without a suit, but every class is so much more enjoyable with one. Midgard seems to lack decent medium end bracers as well. Sorry it's so long, i wanted to give you an idea of what the server entails at 50. |

Then why doesn't valewalker haste stack with druid haste? Hell, it should at least override it. |
|
You will need to prove that it should override/stack with it then. Shrouded Isles was released in patch 1.56, so you have from there to patch 1.69 that Uthgard is aiming for to prove that it stacks or overrides base druid haste. I was speaking for Midgard Healers Celerity Spell stacking with other hastes, NOT Druid base haste stacking with/being overrode by VW self haste. Savage, Friar, Warden self haste also do not stack with base haste(old post and savage has been fixed now, but the point still remains) Here is a link from a VW guide during patch 1.84, which says that "...and will not stack with druid haste. Note that druid haste will win out over your self haste, so whenever you try to cast it and have druid haste, it will fail to affect you. My understanding of haste is that there are three different forms: 1. Base haste (theurg, druid, healer) stacks with celerity, but not self haste (only Theurg gets without training for) 2. Self haste (friar, warden, VW, savage) stacks with celerity, but not base haste 3. Group Celerity (healer) stacks with base haste, and self haste Heres a link to the daoc knowledgebase, though I think parts of it are still under construction. Heres a link to the old Patch Notes site. Good luck. |
