I've played Alb because I have friends there but I've always really wanted to play MId. Couple questions - what classes are needed that everyone doesn't play, and how to go about starting with no money and no friends.

a good healer is always in demand. i'd say pac.
as for the rest.. mid overall is home to some very nice people who arent afraid to help others. |

Is there any hope of finding groups consistently? It would be impossible to solo with garbage gear.

yea, always somebody to grp with - look me up in game - Krossfire - if you need help

but for lvling spec aug.... there are not many caster lvl grps out there

Exact. Get pom 1 Rest into Aug/Heal.
