would u rather use reactive dds or dots on a smiter, that plays solo most of the time (like 90%+)?

lets not discuss the use of smiters, i just wanna test that class...

however: i wanna use reactive dd/dot on my whole armor and shield + weapon...i just cant decide whether to use some dots or only dds...

pro dots:
more dmg than dds, as long as i do not put dots up exclusively (but some dds as well)

contra dots:
may be a bad thing when using insta mezz to heal and stun-smite enemies in the middle of the combat...enemies will break free from mezz if dot is active...

right now i tend to use dds only and have some dot-charges on a sec-weap for throwing in...dunno if thats a good idea, but i will need the mezz often and dots are the death for that :D

ideas?

Youve basicly answered your question.
1st You wont have luck in lvl50 rvr, but you could have fun in BGs.
2nd DDs, because dots dont stack, and break CC.
3rd Even as a smiter you should avoid melee combat, since you will likely get blocked/paried/evaded all the time, and this leads to reactionaries.

well in bgs smiter worked really well, though you are right...only fair duels i really lost were to fulltanks (warriors mainly)...50-rvr is different though but i still wanna give it a try...gonna get my gear ready and go to thid..lets see...

will stick with DDs due to mezz-break-issue... :D

Really, if you get hit, you're dead anyway.

@Edgtho

Smiter in Big Boy RvR will not work as well as it used to when Arzt soloed, since blockrate for Supporters is capped at 10% now, and not up to 40%-50% like when Arzt did it. In BGs you can still own quite well though. Would stick to DD reactives and get a DoT Charge on gloves or shield, so you can have the best of both worlds :)

i never said u shall stay melee, i just say u can rock even in big rvr with smiter. that have nothing to do with blockrate, it just depends on playerskills.

I never said Arzt meleed a lot either, but it certainly helped that once he was forced into melee he blocked a good chunk of Damage ;) Just be prepared that most toons in Bigboy RvR will give you a really really hard time to accomplish anything, since they either have Stealth or they can cast just like you :)
