For about one month now, every Wednesday we do guild-zerg. This time we were a bit more than 2 FGs. Hibs were 1 in the beginning and 2 in the end. Albs were around 3 FG or even more all time.
For us it was 2 hours of fun, although we died a lot.

During the 2 hours and afterwards, we got flamed for beeing more than 8 and for the enemies beeing more than 8, too. Muhaha, sounds silly, but that is Uthgard ^^

With the small community there is no room for casual RvR + Old FZ is not really casual friendly with the boring keep fights and long port timers ;)

blue hit the nail, the fault is people that evolving, not a server that is stuck in 2002 -.-

Wouldn't the 8v8 crowd be mostly interesting in succeeding in their quest of getting 8v8 fights without adds?

Sure, but nevertheless I would love to see daily zergs like back in the days. It would just be amazing ... there would be regular action, the 8v8 ppl could/would propably swtich zones from time to time, everyone could have some kind of rvr fun. I'm fully aware that the server hasnt got the large player numbers like live servers had, but lets say around 1/3 of the whole uthgard population would do rvr on a regular basis ... looking at the player counts that would mean like 200-300 players doing rvr on european evenings. Like one big zerg from every realm and a few 8mans.

Anyhow I know thats a dream that will never happen. But some of the ideas of Bloodwyne (posted in many threads) could propably Improve rvr.

What about the Idea of having a player and gm based consultation from time to time in which there would be discussions on how to improve the overall situations? You invite some "elite" rvr players, some casual rvr players, some pve players and ofc at least one gm to discuss. Let's say once in a month or smth like this. So GMs get to know the position of everyone and there could be a way to find solutions together.

So if thats the case, how about announcing every wednesday and saturday beeing zerg vs zerg events in odins/jamtland or hadrians/pennie?

With bonuses given to those kills with a zerg vs a zerg, like 1% more rp and xp for for every player more than 50 in the zone or something like that.
Officially anouncing this on forums and in chatlog, aswell as a ream message that ETA so many minutes/hours theres gonna be a rp/xp-bonus in odins&jamtland or hadrians&pennie for so and so many hours.
This should definetely encourage zergs in different zones, while leaving those elitists with their 8vs8 untroubled(at least until the "winner" zerg decides to roll emain).

Well, 50 players might seem a bit too low, probably, but thats 2 groups per realm + some adders. So if the fight was 4vs4vs4 in groups, not players, one would be getting around 50% more rp per kill, which should be about 3k rps to kill the zerg and another 3/2k resulting somewhere around 5k rps per zergkill, or something like that.

The zerg-fight problem on uthgard is, that one actually gets rp per player / number of attacker * (1+ groupmembers*0,1) or something like that. Meaning, when killing someone worth 1600 rps, you get 200+160 groupbonus rps. So if you kill someone worth 1600 rps with a zerg of 32 players(4groups), you get 50+40 groupbonus rps. So if its 32 vs 32 then you get 2880 rp on average. 32vs32 exeeds 50 by 14, so add another 14% and you get roughly 3283 rps on average.

Its not that much, but if there was a real zerg vs zerg, 100vs100vs100, which is around 1/3 to 1/2 of uth population, one would be getting 250% of the bonus to rps, which is a tad too much, probably. But would still encourage even more players going to rvr, aswell as even more players coming back there. Since the admins do have the last word, still, they could actually completely ignore this or limit the bonus to 200% bonus max. Small calulation for 100 vs 100: 1600rps worth a kill 16rps per player would turn into 48rps per player resulting in 4800 rps for winning 100vs100 and 8640 groupbonus included.
8640 rps for killing 100 players while beeing in 100vs100vs100 is not that low in my opinion, but also not as high as it IS on live now.

Players do need some BIG anouncement with a bonus they can feel or hope for, at least to move their arses somewhere they arent used to!

Why they should announce a zerg ? thats rvr, no one have to announce what will happen in rvr O_o

this maybe works if you solo the whole day in a mmorpg. if you play with other people you have to communicate

I don´t think there is any need for bonuses for those who zerg or don´t zerg at a special day in a defined time and a frontier.
There are enough bigger issues to be solved by the staff than a bonus for something that happens nearly every day.

I wanted to say, ppl dont have to announce to the others realms if they will zerg or not, i dont like to zerg, but i dont think daoc was planned for arranged 8v8 between realms, it should be a war

Why is everyone acting like this is something new? Like nobody ever noticed this problem before?

This problem has been there for years. Nobody has done anything about it, and apparently, like leftists denying Islam's political imperialism, the GMs have been willingly ignoring the absolute failure of our setting regarding casual end RvR.

By ignoring this for so long, things have polarised even more as we can see clearly. The groups that run regularly exist of RR8+ players, while the newer, RR4-5 players get driven out more and more or are forced to zerg to get any real RvR action whatsoever.

I bet you all know I've been pointing out this problem for long enough and even gave a possible viable solution, so I won't repeat myself once more here. It's your server, your problems and you're the only ones who can take real measures. Clearly things have to get out of hand before things are done around here. This was bound to happen sooner or later. The longer you wait to fix it, the more people will just leave in frustration, untill even the regular RvR players get fed up by seeing the same faces over and over and over again and leave the server themselves.

RvR section of Uthgard forum is awesome. Same things are being "discussed" with the same arguments over and over again. It's been like this for the last 2 years. RvR on this server is one huge pile of horse ******, and it's been like that since I started playing here, which is around 2008. The only exception was NF with camps when people actually RVR-ed on this server (it was crowded but at least the action wasn't dead 80% of the time).

like zarkor said, its the same problem for years. If there would be a zerg leader who give a ****** about his "reputation" there would be regular zergs.

some people willing to do the job is all that is missing here... i could do this of course, i am immune to flames, give a ****** about my reputation... but i just don't want to. This is really hard work (i know it from years of zerg leading on live servers), and i would give anyone doing it more respect than any 8vs8 nice fighter.

But my energy is spend keeping this 30+ kindergarden, some would call a guild, alive
