It's common sense that for grp RvR, you best get red resists and high heal spec. Weapon dmg is not all that important, and you can rupt with low weapon spec easily.
For pure group spec, you could go 49 nurture (red resists), 42 heal and rest weapon (blunt or blade, ~13). If you want to be grp rvr, pve (tank) and solo viable, you could do something like 49 nurt, 33 heal, 25 blades, 14 parry. This is how my warden is specced, works just fine. “DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

I haven't played much solo outside duels with the warden, I admit. It's perfectly fine for group RvR. In duels it performs very well, too.
But comparing it to, say, 39 weapon, style damage is of course a bit lower, but thanks to Uthgard weaponskill "mechanics" you will not notice any difference in to-hit or defense penetration. (On live this spec would probably be worse than it is on Uthgard due to the lower WS). What you gain from high nurture is red haste (38% woohoo) and red dmgadd (and/or red bubble depending on how and how often you swap chants). The gain from regrowth for solo is pretty small though - you will not feel the healreg buff in combat at all, the endu-reduction buff is nice but not too important). So for pure solo spec, you might want to drop reg and up weaponskill. Some parry is also great for soloing, both for defense and for after-parry chain. As a sidenote: If you go all the way to 50 weapon, you can even get the 50 blunt 2nd after parry style with 10s stun. However in that case, you would have to drop reg completely and nurture significantly (you also would also best put some parry to gain advantage of the after-parry chain) which would render you almost useless for any group. “DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

Self-buffs, good DPS with haste and damage add, heals, good 1v1 defense with BT, parry and shield. A really tough solo.

You get that stun after-block which you also do occationally. “DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

Not for solo. If you are 50 weapon (not very viable for grps...) go Blunt, every point below 50: go Blade. If you are Blade there are tons of Weapons. Basaltsword (lifetap), Grim Maul (Lifetap), Harpy's Gaze (dex/qui Debuff), Quadeshian Iceblade (Cold DD) etc |
|
On live hammer was popular because blunt had a much more extensive selection of MP slow weapons that benefitted from self-haste. There simply weren't many swords above 3.5 before TOA, including crafted. Uth is different that way -- more slow swords, esp basalt exist. |
