Are gatekeepers supposed to port you in combat?

Cuz they do and I don't remember that being a possibility in classic. Is this a bug?

Gatekeepers always could and did port you during combat, at least until after the ToA expansion(when I stopped playing live). In fact, one of the most frustrating things about keep defenses on Uthgard up to this point was the fact that if someone attacked you on your way to the door, sometimes the door would bug out and not let you in, even though you did not actively engage in combat(there were some bug reports about this, but thanks to Gatekeepers it's no longer an issue). There was, however, about a three second delay where the Gatekeeper would 'cast' the spell to let you enter the keep from when you pushed your enter/exit macro to get inside, to when you actually teleported in(and with enough DPS, it's possible to die before you get inside). I haven't been out to keeps since the patch, so I don't know if this is the case here on Uthgard. |

The fun part old days in live, was cast the enter/exit macro and run to the back part of keep while you was porting inside, good days
