I figured out the problem, whoever is hosting the server between 5pm-2am eastern time is causing me to have spikes every 20 secs. If I play outside that time frame I don't encounter any lag... So this isn't a problem on my end. I guess for now I just have to avoid those hours.

that sounds more like euro prime time and could be because of the number of connections through those hops giving you enough packet loss/connection degradation to cause LD's.

i have this problem all the time, just randomly. im from west coast usa and been playing here for a little over 2 years i guess and if i log on and notice this kind of lag...well...i just avoid going out to rvr because i know its pretty pointless then, so i just xp a char or look to get on some kind of raid. it also doesnt seem to matter what time of day or how close to reboot or how much pr0nz im downloading or..or.. the lag sucks, and i dont know what causes it, but if you want to play here and you dont live in europe then i think its something you will have to deal with

do you know how far of connection that is? through how many hops? All US players are at a disadvantage concerning ping/latency. Why do you tihnk at it's prime DAoC had GoA for european players? As soon as you cross the pond your ping sucks compared to what a same continent ping would be and packet loss chances go up.
