Hi folks,

I'm going to lvl a BM for a 8v8 rvr grp but I'm really noob with hib classes and especially with the tank ones. I've read many post on this forum about spec etc but I have many questions and I don't want to make a mistake. ^^

I think I'm going to choose the 50 CD/42 shield/50 composite weapon.

My question is about the weapon types and race to choose because the race I'm going to take depends on the weapon type I'll use. (starting stats etc)

I have those choices (at least):

Blades or Blunt:

With blades, I'll have nice bonus on zerk/savage which is really nice.
Blunt: I don't really know why I would choose it. bonus on AM, pally, friar...

Best choice would be Firbolg for the strenght and for the starting points +10str/+10cons/+10qui.
Would a +15str/+10con be a good thing?

Thrust

I would like to pick thrust for the bonus on mid support classes, warriors, but also clerics, minstrel.... but I'm a bit scared of the weaponskill with the low dex, even with an elf. Are the average dmgs good?

If I had to pick thrust, I would hesitate between celt and elf.

Celt for the average stat, and I would go for +10str/+10deX/+10con

Would an elf be a good pierce master? With +10str/+10dex/+10con also, the thrust dmg should be great during the assist... :)

Any advice concerning my hesitations?

My preference now would go to blade or blunt Firby but maybe there is smth else I should know... ;)

I would also like to know if there will be some changes with the old RAs I should take into account NOW in order to avoid mistake.

thx for answering

Splittspecc ftw
50cd 39pierce 39blade
race doesent matter, just try to choose right dmg kind and use dmgadd/tw/flurry wise and learn to sidestrafe sidecombo

take either bolg or celt , splitspec or 42shield and pierce , everything else sucks. Since pierce weaponskill is influenced by strenght and dex (50/50) firbolg is still the best choice , even for pierce.
race : bolg 15 start dex 10 str
or celt 15 start str 10dex

you will be hitting casters or supporters with chain armor anyway , unless you play a kite grp where you kill overextended tanks but they are not that popular on hibernia due to several reasons.

if you want to be able to slam go Bolg Blades, 15 str/10quick.

otherwise firbolg split spec on two weaponlines would be my pick.

na - go Celt, the reason is the most underrated stat on the server - quickness - and starting stats should be 10/10/10 str/dex/qui.

If you go thrust, you can pick any race you like really.

Bolg: 90str/40dex (65 average), 40 qui, (3% crush, 2% slash, 5% heat racial)
Celt: 60str/60dex (60 average), 60 qui, (2% crush, 3% slash, 5% spirit racial)
Elf: 40str/75dex (57.5 average), 75 qui, (2% slash, 3% thrust, 5% spirit racial)
Shar: 60str/50dex (55 average), 50 qui, (5% crush, 5% energy)

Damage over time on Bolg/Celt/Elf will probably the same, shar a bit behind, for resists Celt is probably nicest (not many wizards out), elf has highest block rate when guarding. Just take the race that looks best to you.

If you want to keep the option to switch to blade/blunt later, then bolg/celt will probably the better choice.

Thx for the answers and the information.
I'll probably go for Firbolg with splitspec. I've put +10str/+10dex+10qui.
I imagine it must be rly expensive to build a decent SC with the double weapon spec. I'll have to farm a lot :(

That's not a problem at all.. Two MP pieces (gloves/boots) and that's it.. As long as you use crafted weapons.. If you think you need to swap Drop-Weapons it get's more complicated..

Go Firbolg 15str/10dext or 15str/10quick
50CD 39pierce 39blade
or
50CD 42shield 39pierce

Those spec are good.

Another good spec for smallman/grp/solo
50CD 23shield 36pierce 36blade
back stun from shield can be nice if no slam bot, but this require some more skill ;)

How would you spec that kind of BM for the levelling part?
I thought about going full piece+shield (maybe better for soloing when I can't find a decent grp) and then respec pierce+DW+blade at lvl40. What would you do?

You can lvl with CD and Weapon on lvl as a main dps or with Shield/Weapon on lvl as a Maintank.
Most common is the first one, but second one also exists.

I have a Bolg with +15str and will be Blade/Shield at 50 and Splitspec with another RR

you dont need high RR for splitspec since u can go 39/39/50? then even with rr1 u can go that spec.
I d take Firbolg since it has best stats. if you go pierce you are equal to all other races if u go blades u ve an advantage. if u play in a push grp u usually go for supps or casters, so pierce is better. if u play in a kite grp u usually go for tanks. here blade is better vs mids, pierce vs albs :)
