My gf is having a connection problem to Uthgard. I've done all I can to try and figure it out.

Symptoms: She can log in to the server and get to the character selection screen no problem. When she selects a character (any character), the bar goes across the screen but stops before finishing. The client then just stops working. Sometimes there is an error message that says "Connection error", but usually just a black screen. We see that she is connected in game, but is soon logged out. This has been going on now for three days. Before that, for about 5 days, she has been getting really bad lag.

I have tried reinstalling daoc onto a different drive. I've tried reinstalling Portal and the mods (on different drives). I've tried disabling the firewall. She can log on to other freeshards just fine. She can log on fine to Uthgard on her laptop (which she can't play from), so this is definitely an issue with her computer. We've tried loading the client in windowed mode or full screen, and with different resolutions. We've tried with game version 1.109 and 1.104.

I am all out of ideas. Has anyone seen this issue before?

my problems are usually trans-alantic when i hit europe ie telia.net my ping and responce goes all to hell.

hmmm not to bad atm but not doing speed 6 or kiting just crafting atm so don't feel any. 8:51pm -6gmt

It seems to have been caused by a corrupt mod file, which makes sense because Uthgard was the only server effected. We reinstalled the game, and redownloaded the mods, and it is working again.

Well, she played all day on Tuesday without any lag or disconnects. She then logged on Wednesday and immediately went LD. She tried a couple more times, and each time a "ghost" connection seems to be left behind in /social. She is back to where we started.

It seems that after waiting a week or so, she can now play the game. There was either an issue with the server, or the network in between. The weird thing is that the problem manifested itself as a client issue. So, I am just posting that after waiting a week or so, the issue seems to have gone away.

Hi at all,

i have the same Problem liek teh Thread-Opener has.
My Loading screen freezes and i just can Press ESC-Key.

I have run daoc.exe. After this i have deletetd the Mods and re-installed them. Then i was able to log in again and was able to play. But only until i have to load another Zone (like /release in DF). Then the Screen freezes again.

Does anyone have another Idea?
