So let me get this straight.

If you are in an RvR zone, and you see a 1on1 fight you do not wish to add... if you don't run away or add the fight its a bannable offense?
Seriously? wow. This is a very serious question of mine, not a jab at any of the staff. |
|
Aparently so. Since I am banned for that reason right now.
|
|
you have to run in circles around the fight , same as all the not adding 8vs8 grps do

This is absolutely and without doubt the MOST ABSURD thing ever written by a staff member since I've been playing here. Who are you to tell us how we should behave in a RvR zone? This is worse than anything Mythic has ever done. I won't look for my own fights. Why should I? I like watching people fight. If I want to sit while someone is fighting, I will. I'll sit in the middle of the goddamn fight, first on a Hib and then on a Mid and then on the corpse of the defeated. I'll get a FG of people who will dedicate an hour of each day to just sit at every single milegate. If I want to /rude my own realm-mate while he's fighting someone else, I will. If I want to stick to an enemy and run right next to him through every single frontier zone, I will. There were NO rules against that on Live, in fact it brings the community together. A community is not every realm for itself, the most important part of it is growing to respect ENEMIES. Or just to have, you know, FUN. And no, I don't want to contact you on IRC or by PM or by writing you a letter or by a messenger pigeon. This should be explained PUBLICLY. /sit |

I would rather see a live like RVR rule setting and I personally don't like duelers.
Mythic even allowed large groups of arranged duels. To not allow someone to decide who they fight and when is such a huge custom change it's hard to put into context. Should almost start calling something other than RvR since mythic's rules of rvr no longer apply. Maybe "Uthgard's 3-realm-War"? |
|
/bow Isn't it enough you destroyed (visible) solo action by the forced map change? Now you want to dictate how whats left of the solo community should act? I find myself without the knowledge of the proper term when ABSURD just doesn't cut it... ![]()

50/50 chance. But if you write a book about it i'm sure they'll burn it... ![]() imho this only could be solved after the staff discussed their official pov to this, and give reasons for their decision, else these flames or statements just keep on without any results. /sit so long "Lieber stehend sterben, als auf Knien leben". - Dolores Ibárruri Gómez

Is it ok for stealthers to watch others fight? Or do they have to run away or add to? There may be tactical reason to not add and reveal yourself but still be in the area nearby.
Even for visible players there may be tactical reasons to not add. You may get poisoned, debuffed, hurt and be weak for incoming fights. There are many scenarios where it is an tactical advantage to not add fights. Why do the staff want to force players to play a certain way? How far away from others fight do you have to run away to not get banned? 2k range? 4k range? another zone? ![]() |

I guess as a visible and you stumble across a 1v1 and watch it conclusion, you must kill the winner if of apposite realm to prevent accusations of set duels.

You shouldn't have to do that. Nobody should. This is absurd beyond measure and makes no sense at all. It's actually insulting to the players. As it's been pointed out by others, what about stealthers? What about full groups? What about simple common sense?
RP farming is one thing, arranging duel with repeated rezzing afterwards is another, and I'm fine with all of that being punishable, but for the staff to DICTATE what we can and can't do, and how we behave? What we EMOTE!? Seriously, this is just embarrassing for the server. |
|
Technically it's worse than that; if you see a realmmate fighting someone and the realmmate dies when you wait nearby then you can be reported as well since you didn't help your 'friend' (passive cooperation with the enemy - see "§3.3 Cooperation between players and realms"). The noticable thing here is that a certain unnamed crossrealmer has had his (rightful) cross realm espionage ban reduced from 31 days to 7 days for an unknown reason, whereas these guys remain banned for something that most people seem to interpret as fair play. |

Seriously, if the staff wants to ban those players, ill get perma banned.. and will leave Uthgard. No one else than me decides whom i attack or kill and if i wanna watch the fight, because its a good movie, ill watch it! And when i dont want to leech the winner and wait till he has full HP again to fight, ill do so - even when I loose i had my 1vs1, i was looking for (sometimes u look hours for that as a visible) and will be happy. If the Staff has a problem with that, then they can ban me, im too old and too long playing DAoC to hack on every red name just because hes from an enemy realm and i could earn a few rps. |

If you see stuff like this (even if there is no rezzers), move on. It is that simple, do not try to make up special scenarios or funny sentences. This is what was meant by my comment. And this was what was starting to build at amg today. Image: http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/2300/unled43r.jpg |

I'm glad you quoted that. As can be seen from my previous posts, I have *zero* problems with punishing obvious arranged duels and RP farming, and I will report them myself when I see them, but the way you're wording these unofficial "rules" is very unclear and disturbing. It's obvious by the reaction on the forums that very few of us understand what is it exactly that you mean and what is in fact bannable and what isn't.
Not to mention that the posted screenshot was taken in Odins back when it was an unofficial solo zone, I very much doubt RP farming of that magnitude could ever be sustained at AMG. Even Odins was regulated by the normal flow of RvR not soon after that. Now could you please explain why can't everyone stand around if there's no rezzer? If you change all those character models to stealthers, you have that at AMG every single second of primetime, every day in the view of a MOS5 archer. They will either get ganked by a FG, or someone will add. No rezzer means either a port timer wait or a long run back when you die. Without a rezzer that could very well be a couple of duos/trios waiting for a fight to finish. Where do you draw the line? At 4 people? 8? 12? Grouped? Ungrouped? When do I have to move on and when can I watch and pick my fights? Can I run alongside enemies since only standing around is mentioned? An objective criterion simply does not exist here. Standing around enemies SHOULD NOT BE a bannable offense. Picking fights should not be a bannable offense. Letting enemies live should not be a bannable offense. Or any kind of offense for that matter. And that should be clearly communicated to everyone. If it's not immediately clear what is happening (and I do admit such situations are possible) it's much better to first warn everyone involved via Broadcast (as Nayru did in Odins) to leave then to simply ban all the people who happen to find themselves there. |
