Hello all, I have a quick question about using a bow while stealthed. I have played Ranger as my main here for 15 months and Ranger was my main on classic thru ToA, so I have a pretty extensive background w/ that char. Prior to about 2-3 weeks ago it was pretty easy to figure out how stealthed and firing a bow worked. If you were performing a crit shot you had a chance to become unstealthed performing that shot. When performing normal or rapid fire shots while stealthed I NEVER came unstealthed. Over the last couple weeks its happened a few times that when pulling back on a normal or rapid fire shot that I became unstealthed before the shot left my bow.

In dealing with the above I had 2 questions:

1) What determines your chances of becoming unstealthed while performing a crit shot?

2) Are you supposed to have a chance at becoming unstealthed on this server when perfroming normal and rapid fire shots?

Like I said earlier, I've done ALOT of RvR and PvE on my ranger and dont EVER remember becoming unstealthed when doing normal or RF shots, and have had this happen a few times in rvr. If i have a chance at becoming unstealthed on any shot then I might as well go for crit shot every time.

It depends on your level and your stealth spec:

100% * stealth spec / level = chance to unstealth (-20% for critshots)

From Version 1.35 Release Notes
November 8, 2001

"Archer classes now have a chance of becoming visible when they nock their arrow. The way it worked up until now is that archers would always be invisible if they were using stealth until they fired their bow. Now, a skill check is performed when they "nock" their arrow. If they fail the check, they become visible. The chance to become visible is based on their specialization in Stealth. On normal (i.e. NOT critical shots), if they are 50% specc'ed in stealth, they will have a 50% chance of becoming visible; if they are 100% specc'ed, they will have a 100% chance of remaining hidden. On Critical Shots, the chance is the same as a normal shot, minus 20% - so an archer max specced in stealth will have an 80% of remaining hidden after nocking his bow. Please note that in all cases, an archer will become visible once the shot is actually fired."

not in live where i played 10 realm ranks with scout there , neither on uthgard for another 10 realm ranks

what does 50% stealth specced means , i have 30+20 stealth , is this 100%?

Very nice Razzer :) Your a man of many formulas :) Now when it is saying stealth spec is that just base skill or is it also encompassing +'s? If so that would explain my problem. I recently respec'd to get my path back up to lvl 40 for all yellow buffs and before I was always at 50 stealth (w/ +'s) and never came unstealthed. Now i'm at 49 total stealth so that may be why I am becoming unstealthed occasionally. Thanks again :) Much appreciated!!

Yes composite Stealth 35+11+4 = 50 = 100%

Little mistake it should mean "chance NOT to unstealth" ;)
